Job Summary: The Gardener will perform various landscape maintenance and labor duties under the supervision of a Crew Leader or Horticulturist Supervisor. Responsibilities include hands-on garden upkeep, operating equipment, and collaborating with the team. This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and requires physical labor, including operating machinery and transporting materials. This role requires a strong work ethic for working within a large garden. Work Schedule: The full-time work schedule is from 6:30am to 3:30pm, five days a week, with monthly weekend rotations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: <ul><li>Perform routine landscape maintenance, including, but not limited to, mowing, weeding, planting, pruning, mulching, and fertilizing according to established standards. </li><li>Safely operate and maintain landscape equipment, such as push mowers, blowers, rototillers, tractors, edgers, and utility trucks. </li><li>Assist supervisors in monitoring irrigation systems and pump systems, reporting any malfunctions. </li><li>Participate in special landscaping projects as required. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and functionality of work area, tools, vehicles, and equipment. </li></ul>Requirements Skills and Qualifications:<ul><li>Basic communication skills; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus. </li><li>Ability to lift up to 30 lbs, repetitively bend/stoop, and work in various weather conditions. </li><li>Valid driver's license (required to operate garden vehicles). </li><li>One year of relevant experience, which may include manual labor, landscaping, or gardening. </li><li>Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements, including background check, physical exam, and drug test. </li></ul>Key Competencies:<ul><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks. </li><li>Team-oriented mindset, working collaboratively with supervisors and staff. </li><li>Ability to follow schedules and meet deadlines within a fast-paced environment. </li></ul> Work Environment: This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and involves exposure to loud equipment. JOB SUMMARY The Greenhouse Gardener supports daily greenhouse operations under the direction of the Greenhouse Manager and Crew Lead. This role plays a key part in plant care, propagation, research trials, and greenhouse maintenance while contributing to the overall success of the team. This role involves outdoor work in various weather conditions and requires physical labor, including operating machinery and transporting materials. This role requires a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work independently and as a team. WORK SCHEDULE Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Some rotating weekend shifts may apply. Requirements ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:<ul><li>Assist with all aspects of plant propagation, including seed sowing and vegetative propagation. Tasks include planting and transplanting seeds, seedlings, and cuttings, as well as inspecting plants, watering, weeding, cultivating, and preparing soil. </li><li>Perform daily watering and monitor plant health. </li><li>Safely carry out routine greenhouse maintenance tasks as outlined in the weekly schedule. </li><li>Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the greenhouse, potting area, and storage spaces. </li><li>Assist with preparing, pulling, and loading materials for delivery to the Arboretum. </li><li>Aid in the installation, maintenance, and repair of drip irrigation systems. </li><li>Operate a box truck for transportation of materials and equipment between multiple locations. </li><li>Availability to work weekends on a rotating schedule. </li></ul>SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>Lifting of up to 30 pounds when necessary repetitively bend/stoop, move across property and work in all weather conditions in indoor and outdoor environment, and follow approved safety guidelines </li><li>Good verbal and written communication skills; bilingual (English and Spanish) proficiency is a plus. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks using effective organizational and time-management skills. </li><li>Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays </li><li>Valid driver's license to operate garden vehicles. </li><li>One year of relevant experience, which may include manual labor, landscaping, or gardening. </li><li>This position requires working outdoors in all weather conditions and involves exposure to loud equipment.
