Responsibilities:
<ul><li>The Supervisor Detention Officer is responsible for the field supervision of Detention Officers.</li><li>The Supervisor Detention Officer will provide supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to improve Detention Officer Skills, reinforcing the critical nature of the Detention Officer’s responsibilities</li><li>Responsible for assuring consistent delivery of service regardless of shift or location, for taking immediate action to correct problems detected and for responding whenever called upon</li><li>Maintains full staffing by filling any open posts with reserve or stand-by personnel and managing “call-offs” due to illness or other reasons.</li><li>Briefs Detention Officers during muster and post checks regarding any changes in Post Orders, or any unusual or emergency situations</li><li>Conducts on-the-job training to correct deficiencies in Detention Officer Performance, or to strengthen and refresh Detention Officer knowledge of critical skills and issues.</li><li>Reports any emergency situation to the COTR and AGS Security management.</li><li>Conducts administrative investigations of policy violations to include personal injury and traffic accidents.</li><li>Document incidents with complete and accurate verbal and written reports.</li><li>Reviews the sign-in/out sheets to ensure proper timekeeping by Detention Officers.</li><li>Manages break schedules and ensuring that all Detention Officers receive breaks and proper relief.</li><li>Provides oversight and management and direct reporting of detainee counts.</li><li>Assists detention officers to deal with any incident of disturbance or lack of cooperation from a detainee.</li><li>Inspect every area of the facility where detainees are present, at least once per shift.</li><li>Assumes duties of Captain in Captain’s absence.</li></ul>Operations:<ul><li>Responsible for the operational functions and duties required in operating a detention center; including detention, processing, administration and transportation operations as required in the contract.</li><li>Provides effective leadership and supervision of all subordinate personnel.</li><li>Schedules adequate staffing for all assigned posts and assure that minimum manning standards are maintained.</li><li>Ensures duties are accomplished as directed in the contract. Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Reporting:<ul><li>Furnishes a manifest of all detainees under Supervisory Detention Officer’s jurisdiction and ensure the safe and effective control of all detainees in the facility, 24 hours a day.</li><li>Provides other written and oral reports as required or needed.</li></ul>Leadership/ Supervision:<ul><li>Inspires and motivates employees to perform duties to ensure contract compliance.</li><li>Ensures Detention Officers are trained on the expectations and requirements of their duties.</li><li>Provide timely and ongoing feedback on employee job performance.</li><li>Motivates and provides recognition to exemplary employees.</li><li>Disciplines detention officers who are negligent or disregard standard operating procedures, policies, standards, regulations and/or contractual requirements.</li><li>Participate in interviewing candidates for detention officer positions.</li></ul>Quality Assurance:<ul><li>Enforces American Correctional Association (ACA) and ICE National Detention Standards, policies, procedures and orders related to the custody, care and treatment of detainees.</li><li>Conducts daily quality assurance inspections of their areas of responsibility, including detention facilities, grounds, posts, equipment, uniforms and knowledge of post orders, ACA and ICE National Detention Standards and current policies, procedures and regulations of all subordinate contract personnel.</li><li>Documents findings of the inspections on approved forms and checklists by the end of the shift.</li><li>Corrects discrepancies on-the-spot as appropriate.</li><li>Responsible for the effective and efficient control, operation and security of the detention facility.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Must have a minimum of one year of experience as a detention officer and two years of successful experience in field supervision (civilian law enforcement, commercial or industrial guard service, or security service supervisory position).</li><li>The two-year requirement may be satisfied by completion of a career development program that includes work-related experience, training, or college credits at a level of achievement equivalent to the basic requirement.</li><li>US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years.</li><li>Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).</li><li>Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record).</li><li>Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.</li><li>Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.</li><li>Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.</li><li>At least 21 years of age.</li><li>Possess a valid state driver's license and Firearms license under the regulations of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.</li><li>Ability to obtain and maintain a state security guard license and firearm license from the PRPD.</li><li>Maintain current/physical residency.</li><li>Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement/corrections.</li><li>Knowledge of day-to-day operation of a detention services center.</li><li>Knowledge and skills in ensuring maximum level of safety and security to protect detainees, staff and facility from fire, security breaches, while ensuring operation within established facility rules.</li><li>Ability to greet and deal tactfully with the general public.</li><li>Capability of following and understanding written and verbal orders, policies and regulations</li><li>Incumbent shall be literate and able to interpret printed rules and regulations, detailed written orders, training instructions and materials, and are able to compose written and oral reports.</li><li>Incumbent must exercise good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and render satisfactory performance through his/her responsibilities.</li><li>Ability to maintain poise and self-control during situations that involve mental stress, such as fires, explosions, disturbances and building evacuations.</li><li>Maintain a professional personal appearance and calm demeanor.</li><li>Maintain confidentiality.</li><li>Possess a high degree of integrity, accountability and adhere to the American Correctional Association and DHS ICE standards.</li><li>Demonstrate an ability to work with a diverse population of people, including people of different cultures, with different values and lifestyles, with a cross-cultural perspective.</li><li>Maintain current/physical residence in the continental United States.</li></ul>Desired Qualifications:<ul><li>Knowledge of and familiar with ACA and DHS ICE National Detention Standards and regulations on the operation of detention and correctional facilities.</li><li>Membership in the American Correctional Association.</li><li>Bilingual.</li></ul>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort and transport of detainees as required by the contract.</li><li>Exercises surveillance and control over detainees maintains order and discipline.</li><li>Enforces rules and regulations of the detention facility.</li><li>Provides care, custody and control of detainees.</li><li>Removes detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures.</li><li>Guards' detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings, during transport, while receiving medical care.</li><li>Required to duty carry one of the authorized intermediate weapons (Intermediate weapons should be used in accordance with Service approved Use of Force policy).</li><li>Inspects, maintains, and cares for authorized equipment including but not limited to:</li><li>One approved semi-automatic pistol with appropriate duty belt and magazines.</li><li>All magazines loaded to full capacity.</li><li>Handcuffs/leg irons and keys, waist chains, black boxes, and restraint keys.</li><li>Ballistic vests which must be worn at all times while performing armed officer duties.</li><li>Requalify with weapon quarterly.</li><li>Makes official entries in the transportation and processing logbooks that are legible and complete.</li><li>Conducts a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer.</li><li>Performs complete vehicle inspections prior to and following every transportation route.</li><li>Inventories all equipment and notate the results in the logbook.</li><li>Receives all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition.</li><li>Ensures that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.</li><li>Augments staff as needed at the San Juan Staging Facility and LMMIA operations as required.</li><li>Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees, 24 hours a day.</li><li>Performs all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures.</li><li>Completes all training and job requirements.</li><li>Follows company-wide safety policies and practices and adheres to responsibilities concerning safety prevention, reporting and monitoring as outlined in the Officer Handbook and other Company Safety Policies.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul>
