Order/Perform Diagnostic Test: order appropriate diagnostic studies based on signs and symptoms and disease processes, interpret results and notify appropriate physician, perform all appropriate testing on patients prior to surgery, record data on patient chart, notify physician and surgery to prepare for surgical procedure. Provide patient Education and Counseling: provide educational materials and instruct patient regarding their condition and their procedures, counsel patients regarding issues that could arise from their procedure, such as, therapeutic regimens, compliance with treatment plans, wound care, home care, physical and emotional problems, health maintenance and rehabilitation.
