As a skilled Operator, you'll drive production on earthwork and underground projects efficiently, moving dirt, installing pipe, and shaping sites for new subdivisions and large commercial projects.What You'll Get To Do<ul><li>Create consistent, high-quality results running late-model GPS-equipped excavators, dozers, loaders, and other equipment for pipe and dirt work.</li><li>Drive production by planning ahead, anticipating the next phase, sequencing work effectively, and minimizing idle time.</li><li>Protect the crew and equipment by always leading with safety, identifying hazards early, and keeping areas clean and organized.</li><li>Help the team succeed, stay coordinated, and avoid rework by helping others, being accountable, and communicating.</li><li>Work with a team of high performers who are hungry to grow, proud of the work they put in, and care about doing things right, not just fast. A crew that talks openly about what went wrong as often as what went right, learning from the "bummers" instead of burying them.</li><li>Put in real hours and see real progress. Most weeks run 10 to 12-hour days with occasional Saturdays, giving plenty of opportunity for overtime and visible momentum on every job.</li></ul>What You Bring<ul><li>You’ve spent real time in the seat of an excavator, dozer, or loader and know how to move dirt and/or install pipe efficiently without sacrificing safety or quality.</li><li>You know how to read grade stakes and measure in tenths, so your grades come out right the first time.</li><li>You're confident in your skills, but never act like you’ve got it all figured out. You keep learning, asking questions, and finding small ways to get better every day.</li><li>You take extreme accountability for jobs to run smoothly. You think ahead, own your part, and bring a strong sense of safety.</li></ul>Even Better, But Not Required<ul><li>You're experienced in mass earthwork and/or underground utilities</li><li>You can read blueprints</li><li>You've worked with GPS</li><li>You have a CDL-A</li></ul>Typical Schedule: We work 5-12s in the peak season, and 4-10s in the winter with occasional Saturdays. Most jobs are in the counties north of Detroit and out west towards Wayne and Washtenaw Counties. Per-diem for projects over 1.5 hours away from the office. Job Summary: The Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance, DOT Inspections, and repairs to company diesel and gas powered vehicles and equipment. This position is "in-house," requires 40 hours per week (overtime after 40 hours) and includes healthcare and retirement benefits. Key Tasks & Responsibilities · Responsible for preventative maintenance tasks on company equipment, vehicles, trucks, and trailers. · Preventative maintenance including tires, wheels, brakes, air systems, starting systems, electric systems, and suspensions. · Test, diagnose, and repair problems with vehicles and equipment. · Disassemble units, reassemble units, and replace non functioning parts. · Maintain records of serviced vehicles and equipment. · Maintain a clean and organized work area. Requirements: · At least 18 years of age. · At least 2 years of previous mechanical experience. · Experience with air brakes, hydraulic systems, and electric systems. · Experience with diesel and off-road construction equipment. · Valid chauffer's license required. · CDL license preferred. CDL training reimbursement available to qualified candidates. · Ability to pass drug-screening and MVR check. · Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. · Ability to lift up to 75 pounds   · Overtime available. Successful candidates must be able to communicate effectively, have prior work experience with heavy equipment operating and have knowledge of underground utilities. Main Responsibilities: <ul><li>Fasten attachments to tractor with clevis or wedge pin hitches.</li><li>Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkage, or power takeoff shaft to tractor to provide power to raise, lower, or tilt attachments.</li><li>Move levers to control tool bars, carriers, and disks.</li><li>Move levers and depress pedals to maneuver tractor and raise, lower, and tilt attachment to clear right-of-way.</li><li>Feel lever and listen for stalling action of engine to estimate depth of cut.</li><li>Grease, oil, and perform minor repairs on equipment.</li><li>Maintain all appropriate maintenance records.</li><li>Assess the area to determine if the utilities were properly located prior to performing the underground work.</li><li>Review the terrain to determine the best method to perform the job.</li></ul> Required Qualifications: <ul><li>Prior heavy equipment operating experience.</li><li>Underground utilities experience.</li><li>Ability to travel around the area.</li><li>High school diploma or equivalent. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.</li><li>Must pass computer-based testing, specific to the local Customer's operator qualifications.</li></ul>Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li>Class A CDL with tanker endorsements.</li></ul>Connect with us on Social Media!
