Overview:
Location: Methodist Jennie Edmundson Behavioral Health Hospital, 3620 S 24th St, Council Bluffs, IA 51501 Methodist Health System, the region’s most established not-for-profit provider, has partnered with Acadia Healthcare, the nation’s largest standalone behavioral health company, to open a new 96-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. This marks Acadia’s first acute psychiatric facility in Iowa, expanding much-needed access to behavioral health services across Southwest Iowa and the Greater Omaha area.  Just minutes from downtown Omaha, Council Bluffs blends small-town charm with city convenience—offering affordable living, great schools, and a strong sense of community—making it an ideal location for this important new facility. Scheduled to open in June 2026, Methodist Jennie Edmundson Behavioral Health Hospital will offer a full continuum of inpatient and outpatient care for adults, seniors, and youth, including programs for mood disorders, dual diagnosis, geriatric psychiatry, child & adolescent care, PHP/IOP, and ECT. The facility will play a vital role in addressing the region’s significant behavioral health bed shortage. We are currently seeking a Full-Time Hospitalist to join our skilled and patient focused team. About the role:To deliver direct care including pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment of medical and mental health problems as defined by professional scope of practice.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Responsible for providing clinical services to patients at the facility within medical protocols defined by federal and state regulations, as well as by corporate, facility policy or procedures.</li><li>Review medical information on patients to ensure medical stability and to offer medical recommendations.</li><li>Ensure the physical health and care of patients, working constructively and collaboratively with other healthcare professionals is held to the highest standards.</li><li>Review and complete medical information for individual care plans.</li><li>Direct services and information in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate confidential documentation, compliance and billing in accordance with the policy and procedures.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Doctoral degree in Medicine (MD or DO) required.</li><li>One or more years’ experience as a staff physician with the population served by the facility preferred.</li></ul>Licenses/Certifications<ul><li>Current license to practice medicine, by the state in which the facility(s) operates.</li><li>Board certification or certificate of admissibility for board certification in a behavioral health specialty.</li><li>Current DEA credentials to prescribe controlled substances without restrictions and per regulation within the state in which the practitioner will be working.</li><li>Additional specific DEA credentials may be required, per state and facility regulations or policy.</li></ul>Our Comprehensive Treatment Network   ~23,500 Employees · ~11,400 Beds · 258 Locations · 38 States · 1 Network   As a leading provider of behavioral healthcare services in the United States and Puerto Rico, Acadia Healthcare operates 258 treatment facilities across 38 states.
