The Fuel Superintendent is responsible for assisting different departments in the pre-construction process and helps team finish projects on time within budget. The person in this position must be very knowledgeable within the fuel construction industry, and possess strong interpersonal, organization, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Site Superintendent Status: Exempt (salaried) Department: Hydrogen Location: Remote California, Oregon, and Washington, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, Arizona Position Summary The Site Superintendent is responsible to provide on-site coordination for all phases of Plug Power's construction and commissioning process for hydrogen fueling infrastructure systems. The position will include coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that provisions are being executed properly and that all work is being completed in a timely manner and within budget. This position will work with the internal Plug Power project team, the industrial gas companies, permitting agencies, contractors, suppliers and the end-customer to ensure a smooth transition during hydrogen fuel cell deployments. The ideal candidate should possess a blended background of civil, mechanical and electrical construction management experience and must be willing to travel and stay as required to deployment locations; up to 100% of the time. Core Duties and Responsibilities Provide on-site support for construction project activities: oversight of construction crews, industrial gas companies, permitting agencies, contractors and suppliers. Uphold schedule of all construction activity on jobsite and make changes necessary to ensure deadlines are met. Maintain a daily log (electronic) of all activities on jobsite. Manage daily reports regarding progress of site and report back to Project Manager. Ensure budgetary parameters are being met and within approved range. Enforce good construction standards and quality control. Plan and review project priorities with the Project Manager including quality control procedures, safety and security practices, field office location and layout, temporary utilities, staging areas, equipment, manpower and other elements as needed. Maintain a safe jobsite and ensure that the requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced. Hold job site meetings, raising relevant issues, and enforcing safety and quality standards for entire construction crew. Identify vendor or subcontractor non-compliance with any safety, health or quality standards; escalate issues as needed for resolution. Coordinate all required municipal inspections. Identify any issues with construction timelines and progress, work with Project Manager to resolve. Communicate regularly with internal project team members and end-customers in order to clarify project expectations and meet commitments. Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions. Perform all other duties as assigned. Education and Experience High school diploma required; vocational or college degree preferred in relevant field of study. A minimum of three (3) years working experience as a site superintendent on an industrial construction project management professional. Ability to travel frequently in the domestic U.S. to customer sites for infrastructure project management activities; up to 100% of the time. Proven track record in construction management; delivering quality results on-time. Must have understanding of construction best practices including scheduling and planning concepts. Ability to read and interpret blue prints and P&IDs. Experience in any of the following spheres of activity is preferred and highly valued: Hydrogen and/or fuel cells Cryogenic Industry High Pressure Systems (250 Bar and up) Gas processing and/or dispensing equipment Oil and Gas, CNG, LNG, etc... Offering these services in-house allows for a more efficient and seamless process, provides a single point of contact, faster delivery, and cost control from the outset. We enjoy great working relationships with renowned hotel brands, including Hilton, Best Western, Marriott and IHG.As Field Project Manager, you will play a vital role in the construction phase of a hotel renovation, responsible for collaborating with the Superintendent, preconstruction department, design department, procurement department, and subcontractors while reporting to the principal of construction and Senior Construction Manager. A large part of this role is being an onsite leader (with the superintendent) while spending 7 days per week on the jobsite, in the hotel, as it is being renovated. A clean, private hotel room will be provided. This role will be leading the effort to deliver the project on time and on budget. After several of these 3–6-month Hotel renovation projects over a few years, our intent is to grow our Field PM’s into senior construction managers who oversee multiple projects at once, work remotely, and only have to visit the site once per month. There is room for career growth. Work Hours: 8am – 5pm Work Days: Monday – Friday, and sometimes weekends as needed. Location of upcoming projects: Washington, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Missouri, CaliforniaResponsibilities: <ul><li>Project manage one or multiple projects concurrently. Projects may be in different stages of the project life cycle and be of different size/scale. </li><li>Provide bi-weekly written reports for both internal and external review. </li><li>Manage client relationships onsite with the hotel manager. The hotels are often 50-70% operational during construction. </li><li>Forecast and recruit resources needed to reach our goals. </li><li>Manage labor and material resources in an effective and efficient manner to avoid delays and cost overruns. </li><li>Assist in tracking project costs to meet budget. </li><li>Assist in developing and managing detailed Project Schedules and Guestroom Displacement Schedules. </li><li>Develop and manage Site Safety Plans, Logistics Plans, and Phasing Plans. </li><li>Lead Weekly OAC meetings and internal project meetings. </li><li>Create, track, and follow up Meeting Minutes/ Action Items. </li><li>Manage contracts and relationships with subcontractors and vendors by ensuring scope alignment, risk mitigation and legal compliance. </li><li>Review subcontractor and vendor invoices and verify progress completions. </li><li>Measure project performance to identify areas for schedule and cost improvements. </li><li>Creating long and short-term plans, including setting targets for milestones and adhering to deadlines. </li><li>Making effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project. </li><li>Brainstorming, improvising, and problem solving when confronted with challenges. Strategizing on potential solutions internally before presenting a challenge to external stakeholders. </li><li>Proactively following up on procurement ship dates. </li><li>Overseeing and tracking FF&E Expediting Reports. </li><li>Serving as a point of contact for our internal design, procurement, and construction teams. </li><li>Communicating with InnSpace Management to keep the project aligned with their goals. </li><li>Consulting with InnSpace Client Relations/ Preconstruction on Change Order before presenting to Owner. </li><li>Implementing construction safety practices in accordance with OSHA. </li><li>Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected and act according to local AHJ requirements. </li><li>Performing punch walks, creating punchlists, and managing punch completion. </li><li>Utilize industry and building code best practices, techniques, and standards throughout entire project execution. </li><li>Creating and submitting Project Billings. Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.</li></ul>Travel Requirements: <ul><li>Be able to manage ~3 projects concurrently and be willing to travel to the projects. Travel up to 80% of the time. We need this role to be at the Hotel we are renovating to receive material deliveries, perform punch out, manage the relationship with the hotel. A hotel room will be provided. </li></ul>Benefits:<ul><li>Field PM’s will be automatically enrolled in the Company’s Responsible Time Off (“RTO”) program / policy. RTO includes paid time off for sick, personal and vacation time; there are no set number of days off per annum, however, it is expected you will use the policy responsibly. A Hotel is typically renovated in 3-6 months. We expect the Field PM to be onsite most of the time during the project, but taking many paid weeks off between projects is not uncommon, which must be pre-approved by the principal of construction.
