This role is ideal for a technically strong and client-focused professional with expertise in potable water systems, water storage infrastructure, and emerging contaminants such as PFAS.<br/><br/></div><div>In this position, you will play a key role in planning, evaluating, and designing water distribution and treatment systems for municipal and industrial clients. You will help address evolving water quality challenges, navigate regulatory requirements, and implement innovative, resilient solutions that protect public health and strengthen community infrastructure. Your work will span the full project lifecycle—from source water evaluation and hydraulic modeling through design, permitting, construction, and project closeout—offering a dynamic and impactful career path.<br/><br/></div><div>This is also an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of our drinking water practice. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and engage directly with clients and stakeholders, helping to drive both technical excellence and business development initiatives.</div><br/><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><br/><ul><li>Lead and manage the full lifecycle of drinking water projects, including water distribution systems, storage facilities (tanks and reservoirs), booster pump stations, and treatment plants </li><li>Oversee planning and design efforts for water storage infrastructure, including elevated tanks, ground storage reservoirs, and clearwells, ensuring operational efficiency and long-term reliability </li><li>Evaluate and design treatment solutions for PFAS and other emerging contaminants, incorporating technologies such as granular activated carbon (GAC), ion exchange, and membrane systems </li><li>Conduct and supervise hydraulic modeling, system capacity analyses, water distribution master planning, and lead service line inventory and replacement programs </li><li>Perform water quality assessments and support compliance with federal and state drinking water regulations </li><li>Manage project teams, including internal staff and subconsultants, while maintaining responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and quality </li><li>Prepare and present technical reports, plans and specifications, cost estimates, and client-facing deliverables </li><li>Coordinate with regulatory agencies and support permitting efforts, including engagement with environmental and public health stakeholders </li><li>Provide construction-phase services such as submittal review, RFIs, field observations, and startup/commissioning support </li><li>Mentor and develop junior engineering staff, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing across the team </li><li>Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting proposal development and strategic </li></ul><br/><h3>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</h3><br/><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in civil, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline </li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) license required, or ability to obtain within 6 months </li><li>8+ years of progressive experience in drinking water system planning, design, and infrastructure projects </li><li>Strong expertise in water distribution hydraulics and modeling tools (e.g., WaterGEMS, InfoWater, EPANET) </li><li>Demonstrated experience with water storage system design, including coordination with structural and operational considerations </li><li>Familiarity with PFAS treatment technologies and evolving regulatory frameworks is highly desirable </li><li>Comprehensive knowledge of water treatment processes, including filtration, disinfection, and advanced treatment systems </li><li>Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality results on time and within budget </li><li>Proficiency with engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD and GIS preferred </li><li>Experience with funding programs (e.g., State Revolving Fund, USDA Rural Development) is a plus </li><li>Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, regulators, and team members </li></ul><div><br/><br/>This is a <strong>hybrid role</strong>, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week. This newly created position supports increasing project demand and expands our project management capacity across a range of site/civil engineering and land development projects for public and private clients  which require multi-disciplinary consultant teams including, multi-family housing, higher-ed and K-12 education, commercial, industrial, brownfields redevelopment, municipal parks and recreation, stormwater retrofit, and mixed-use.</div><div><br/>This role is well suited for a licensed civil engineer with strong site design experience who enjoys leading projects from concept through permitting and construction support. The Project Manager will oversee technical design, manage schedules and budgets, mentor staff, and work directly with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies to deliver high-quality projects.</div><br/><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><br/><ul><li>Managing site/civil engineering projects from initial scoping through design, permitting, and construction support</li><li>Developing project scopes, contracts, schedules, and budget</li><li>Overseeing and mentoring engineering staff and coordinating multi-disciplinary teams in the areas of land development, stormwater management, and climate/flood resiliency </li><li>Preparing and reviewing site designs including layout, grading, utilities, erosion & sediment control, and site details</li><li>Designing stormwater management systems</li><li>Coordinating with municipal staff and attending Town/City public meetings</li><li>Participating in field meetings and site visits</li><li>Assisting with report preparation and local/state permit applications</li><li>Supporting business development efforts and maintaining strong client relationships</li></ul><br/><h3>Skills, Knowledge and Expertise</h3><br/><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering preferred</li><li>8+ years of relevant site/civil engineering experience with strong site design skills</li><li>Prior project management experience including contracts, QA/QC, scheduling, and staff oversight</li><li>Vermont Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred</li><li>Experience with local and state permitting requirements</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D required; HydroCAD preferred</li><li>Travel to client sites, and attendance at town and city public meetings</li></ul><div><br/><br/><br/>This is a <strong>hybrid role</strong>, offering the best of both worlds—collaborate in-office with a high-performing team and enjoy the flexibility of working remotely part of the week.
