What You Will Do The Chemical Diagnostics and Engineering Group (C-CDE) at Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated person for the position of Chemistry Research Technician 3/4. C-CDE is an applied technology organization focused on resolving national security-related issues in stockpile modernization, manufacturing and support, surveillance, applied and basic energy sciences, threat reduction, and the environment. The group's core approach involves the integrated development and application of technologies in Analytical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Materials Science, and Chemical Engineering. The successful candidate will join a team of chemists, spectroscopists, and theorists to conduct research that addresses the fundamental physical and chemical behavior of f-block complexes under rigorously air- and moisture-free environments. Responsibilities will include: implementing experimental design necessary to complete projects, executing experimental synthetic R&D including operating an inert atmosphere drybox and using Schlenk-line techniques, performing associated spectroscopic and magnetic studies needed to characterize the materials, and maintaining laboratory space and equipment. The candidate is expected to be self-motivated for success and demonstrate a desire to perform at a high-level with aspirations to develop into a leader in the field of chemistry. It is further expected that the successful candidate will present their work at national/international conferences and will foster publication of their results both internally and in appropriate refereed journals.
