As a Field Inspector covering Green County, you will perform residential occupancy verifications. These are brief, exterior visits to confirm property status and report on general conditions.</p><ul><li><strong>Autonomy:</strong> You manage your own routing, schedule, and territory.</li><li><strong>Efficiency:</strong> Standard inspections are designed for speed, typically requiring only 5–6 minutes on-site.</li><li><strong>Consistency:</strong> Enjoy stable, month-to-month volume in your assigned county.</li></ul><h3>Workflow & Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Determine property occupancy status based on industry-standard indicators.</li><li>Capture 9+ photos and submit brief reports using industry-standard mobile applications.</li><li>Maintain a high level of reliability regarding territory coverage and deadlines.</li></ul><p><em>Note: This role requires spending extended periods of time driving and making numerous stops throughout the day in your assigned territory. This territory covers a spacious rural county with longer drives between stops. A fuel-efficient vehicle and comfort with country roads are especially valuable.</em></p><h3>Requirements</h3><p>As an independent contractor, you are responsible for providing your own equipment, including:</p><ul><li>Reliable, fuel-efficient vehicle.</li><li>Smartphone (Android or iPhone) capable of running mobile reporting apps.</li><li>Computer with an internet connection and a printer.</li><li>Strong time-management skills to meet deadlines without direct supervision.</li><li>Ability to pass a standard background check.</li></ul><h3>Earnings & Volume</h3><ul><li><strong>Flat-Rate Pay:</strong> This is a 1099 position where you are paid a set fee for every inspection completed.</li><li><strong>Earning Potential:</strong> While pay is per-inspection, efficient contractors typically earn the equivalent of $25–$35 per hour.</li><li><strong>Volume:</strong> Rates and inspection volume vary by county. We are all employee-owners at HDR, which is the foundation of our collaborative culture that connects employees around the world. </p><p>In the role of Civil Construction Inspector II, we'll count on you to: </p><ul><li>Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to civil infrastructure, such as roads, bridges, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations and pipelines </li><li>Collaborate with other field representatives or Project Managers </li><li>Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents </li><li>Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed </li><li>Perform other duties as needed </li></ul><p>Preferred Qualifications: </p><ul><li>Technical school or Associate degree </li><li>KYTC experience </li><li>Road and Bridge construction </li><li>Relevant Industry Certifications </li><li>Ability to interpret construction schedules </li><li><p>Required Qualifications: </p><ul><li>Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma) </li><li>A minimum of 3 years experience </li><li>Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) </li><li>Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities </li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team </li><li>An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must </li></ul><p>HDR's Drug and Alcohol Policy supports our commitment to employee safety and exceeding client requirements.
