The WT Department is looking to hire a full-time (40 hours/week) college intern for the MDC's summer internship program.

<p/><p> Forestry Intern </p><p> The Metropolitan District is a non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide potable water and sewerage services on a regional basis. Today, the MDC provides quality water supply, water pollution control, mapping, and household hazardous waste collection to eight member municipalities - Bloomfield, East Hartford, Hartford, Newington, Rocky Hill, West Hartford, Wethersfield and Windsor - and to portions of other towns in the region. The WT Department is looking to hire a full-time (40 hours/week) college intern for the MDC's summer internship program. </p><p> The Intern will report to our Barkhamsted facility located in Barkhamsted, CT. </p><p> The program will begin on June 1, 2026, and end on July 31, 2026 </p><p> The MDC seeks to enhance the diversity of its workforce. EOE/AA/M/F/D/V </p><p><u> DUTIES </u> Intern will have an opportunity to work closely with forestry staff to gain field experience with watershed forest management activities including timber harvesting, wildlife management, invasive species control, boundary maintenance and watershed protection and education. Interns will have an opportunity to gain experience with GPS equipment, forestry and survey tools, and GIS mapping. The specific tasks will vary depending on active projects, program needs and student interests. </p><p><u> QUALIFICATIONS </u> College or graduate student in forestry, natural resources, or a closely related field. Interns must be willing to work outdoors at remote locations on difficult terrain under variable weather conditions.
