Description: Equipment Services Plus is a leading recycling facility dedicated to providing innovative waste management solutions in the commercial service industry. Primary Responsibilities:Maintain close attention to safety, quality, and productivity in the welding/fabrication area.MIG and Stick welding, you must know how to use the torch and rosebud operation.Familiar with metals, steel, and fabrications.Oversee all the container/Baler repairs.Rebuilding truck bodies, roll-off containers, and front-load containers.Follow instructions on work orders and shop drawings, and verify material and work accuracy.Prepare and process all paperwork necessary to complete orders.Order and maintain necessary levels of shop and welding supplies.Maintain equipment by following required preventative maintenance schedules and documenting tasks.Able to interpret drawings, layout, and plan work and use sound judgment.Observe safety procedures, assure one's own and others' safety, and report any safety issues.Properly stack processed material and pack as required in preparation for shipping.Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.Perform other duties assigned. Requirements: <ul><li>Experience using the MIG and Stick welding processes. </li><li>TIG and/or spot-welding experience is a plus.</li><li>Certified Welder & Metal Fabricator HUGE PLUS!</li><li>Must be capable of machine setup, including proper wire speed, voltage, and gas flow.</li><li>Ability to safely use and operate shop tools and equipment such as torches, band saws, iron workers, and drill presses.</li><li>Able to work in a physically demanding environment, including working on your feet for extended periods of time, </li><li>lifting material weighing up to 50 lbs, and working in hot or cold conditions.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and accuracy.</li><li>Capable of following required safety procedures, including OSHA standards such as lock-out/tag out and incident reporting.</li><li>Ability to work independently in a production-oriented environment and perform against established performance standards.</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.</li><li>Ability to prioritize, organize, and multitask.</li><li>Self-starter with a willingness to learn.</li><li>Capable of following instructions.</li></ul>Education: High school or equivalent Experience: 3 years of welding experience (Preferred) Compensation and Benefits:Full-time employees are eligible for a competitive total compensation package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Vol Life Insurance, and STD. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to this position are the following jobs:Job Title• Ironworker General Foreman• Iron Worker Foreman• Steel Fabrication ForemanCHALLENGES• Providing structural maintenance services in order to maintain 52.3 miles of elevated structure as well as 115 bridges and viaducts over streets, highways, and waterways, along with 150 rail stations to keep the structures safe for the riding public.• EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, plus eight (8) years of experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of structures and facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to this position.•

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES• Manages and coordinates various structural maintenance projects with a broad range of responsibilities including planning, scheduling, permitting, budget analysis, cost estimating and design, along with the oversight of fabrication and construction activities.• Participates in the activities of Structural Maintenance staff to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Reviews work assignments to ensure compliance with established Structural Maintenance standards. • Prepares basic structural design analysis, sketches, detailed drawings, cost estimates, and specifications as needed for the repairs of deteriorated structural elements on the rapid transit elevated structures, bridges, buildings and related facilities.• Participates in inspection and repair audits to determine condition of CTA infrastructure such as track elevated structure, tunnels, viaducts and retaining walls. Maintains current inspection records in the asset management data base.• Coordinates activities with the CTA Steel Fabrication Shop for the fabrication of structural components and repairs. Inspects and reviews the various stages of structural component fabrication.• Assists the Senior Manager in the development and administration of structure maintenance department standards as well as the section’s policies, goals and objectives.• Reviews structure maintenance drawings and specifications of Authority projects and outside construction projects interfacing with CTA structures.• Assists in the development and administration of various CTA Capital Construction and maintenance programs for the rail and bus systems and their related facilities.• Represents the Authority at meetings of various consultants, contractors, governmental agencies and transit organizations.• Performs related duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESReporting to this position are the following jobs:Job Title• Ironworker General Foreman• Iron Worker Foreman• Steel Fabrication ForemanCHALLENGES• Providing structural maintenance services in order to maintain 52.3 miles of elevated structure as well as 115 bridges and viaducts over streets, highways, and waterways, along with 150 rail stations to keep the structures safe for the riding public.• Interacting with a diverse workforce.• Optimizing structural repair designs that are cost effective and constructible.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS• Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field, plus eight (8) years of experience in the design, construction, and maintenance of structures and facilities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience relating to this position.• Registered Illinois Professional Engineer or Registered Illinois Structural Engineer preferred.• Must possess a valid State of Illinois Driver’s License.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS• Requires sitting for extended periods of time, standing, visual acumen, manual dexterity and fingering for working with computer keyboards. • Must be able to walk the CTA right-of-way (elevated structure, ballast, and subway) for extended distances in various weather conditions.• Must be able to climb ladders and not affected by fear of height. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES• Working knowledge of technical requirements for structure maintenance such as American Railway Engineering Association structure standards (AREMA), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI).• Working knowledge of railroad and/or transit structure design and maintenance.• Working knowledge of structural engineering principles, methods, and techniques.• Working knowledge of construction materials, methods, and techniques.• Working knowledge of municipal codes and ordinances as applied to the design, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, track structures, and facilities.• Good research abilities, attention to detail, and problem solving skills.• Good verbal and written communication skills.• Good critical thinking skills to assess how one change can affect the entire project.• Intermediate skill using AutoCAD to create drawings as needed for structural repairs, inspection documents, and permitting.• Intermediate skill using personal computer, engineering applications, and data management software.• Ability to negotiate and resolve conflict.• Ability to organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate moderately complex structural engineering problems and provide practical and cost effective solutions.• Ability to work well with others.• Ability to manage routine structural engineering projects.
