DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:Responsible for assisting in day-to-day operations of the HIM Department. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Answering phone calls; scanning documents; emptying binders</li><li>Reviews medical documentation and reviews assigned medical codes.</li><li>Tracking, processing, and evaluating requests for release of information (ROI).</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge in HIPAA standards</li><li>Demonstrates knowledge of existing and emerging requirements related to privacy and confidentiality of health information</li><li>Follows all policies, protocols, and standards of the HIM process</li><li>Demonstrates the ability to gather data, compile information for the preparation of reports</li></ul>RequirementsQualifications and Experience:<ul><li>High school diploma, GED or equivalent required</li><li>Coding Certification Required.</li><li>Minimum one (1) year administrative experience preferred</li><li>Previous experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.</li><li>Ability to maintain information as highly confidential.</li><li>Knowledge of applicable laws, standards, and regulations affecting health information systems, specifically in behavioral health service areas.</li></ul>Physical Requirements:    While performing the duties of this job, this position is frequently required to do the following:  <ul><li>Use standard office equipment and access, input, and retrieve information from a computer.   Use computer keyboard with manual and finger dexterity and wrist-finger speed sufficient to perform repetitive actions efficiently for extended periods of time.  </li><li>Communicate effectively in person or via telephone in a manner which can be understood by those with whom the person is speaking, including a diverse population.  </li><li>Give and follow verbal and written instructions with attention to detail and accuracy.  </li><li>Perform complex mental functions and basic arithmetic functions; interpret complex laws, regulations, and policies; collect, interpret, and/or analyze complex data and information.</li><li>Vision: see details of objects at close range.</li><li>Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.  </li><li>Reach forward, up, down, and to the side.  </li><li>Sit or stand for minimum periods of one hour at a time and come and go from the work area repeatedly throughout the day.</li><li>Lift up to (30) pounds, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.</li></ul>BenefitsWe proudly offer the following benefits available 1st of the month following just one month of employment:<ul><li>Competitive rates</li><li>Tuition reimbursement</li><li>Comprehensive package of benefits to include:</li><li><ul><li>Medical</li><li>Dental</li><li>Vision</li></ul></li><li>Life, Pet, Identity Theft Insurance</li><li>401k</li><li>Generous paid time off</li><li>Short Term and Long Term Disability</li></ul>
