This position performs performance, chemical and physical testing of disposable paper and hygiene consumer products, learning multiple industry methods.RequirementsExperience in science, engineering, pulp and paper or related scientific field is preferred.Job FunctionsWorks under immediate supervision to perform the following job functions, generally:• Performs routine laboratory testing, following the relevant company's Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and methods.
• Validates performance on methods as required.
• Tests to applicable standards (ASTM, CSPA, ISO, SSC, etc.) and customer-specific protocols.
• Ensures compliance with all required local and federal safety processes and procedures.
• Demonstrates good and safe work habits and enforces a clean working environment.
• Performs general upkeep and housekeeping of the laboratory.
• Accurately completes and maintains all laboratory reports.
• May also have prep or field responsibilities, as required by business needs.
• May be required to receive, sort, log client samples into the database, and prepare sample labels.
• May be required to archive, return, or dispose of client samples as per the established procedure.
• Performs daily, weekly, and monthly Quality Assurance/Quality Control checks on equipment.
• Assists in keeping inventory of laboratory chemicals and equipment necessary for the day-to-day functioning of the laboratory and in compiling lists of supplies to be ordered when needed.
• Assists in calibration/verification tasks and other ISO 17025 related activities.
• Ensures all personal protective equipment (PPE) relevant for tasks is worn at all times.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:Sample preparation and analysis following official methods and company/laboratory SOPs. Area Leader guides the work flow for the department  Specifically These Responsibilities Are To:Develop, review, submit, and file reports on client sample tests, correlation tests, calibration, validation, proposal, and other projects.  Authorized to review and sign datasheets and client reports.Routine operation, maintenance, calibration, qualification, and trouble-shooting of laboratory equipment and instruments.Perform and validate test methods, laboratory SOPs, and other department level operating, safety, and quality documents.Investigation of, response to, and follow-up of client inquiries and complaints.Limited internal and external technical support to marketing, sales, customer services, and clients regarding test, report, and other technical information.Input technical information in LIMS and other electronic and physical data systems and ensure all information is up to date and maintained.Coordinate with other laboratory technicians and/or assistants on sample receiving, logging, pretreatment, preparation, testing and other tasks.Conduct multiple projects within tight deadlines.Comply with local and corporate QHSE requirements.Other projects and tasks assigned by company and supervisors.Assign tasks and projects to department based on incoming projectsManage day to day work flow of the department ensuring on time delivery of reports to clientsEnter orders into Sharepoint for supplies needed to perform testing (PO or p-card)
Profile of the position (Requirements & Qualifications): Familiarity with Quality Management System and ISO 17025Familiarity with ASTM, ANSI, NFPA, government, industry and other regulations, standards, and methodologies.Education:AA degree (technical) with at least 2 years test lab experience, or at least 4 years of technical experience.  Skills/Competencies:Must be able to meet the following performance requirements:Attend work regularly and predictably.Participate as a team member and be able to work with multiple cultures    •         Work independently and with limited supervision and as part of a team.  Familiarity with Company and Laboratory Quality and Operations systems.Familiarity with LIMS and other laboratory data management means.Effective understanding, written and verbal skills.Takes initiative to learn and grow.  Able to learn and apply new technologies and instruments.Functional Competencies / Qualifications:Computer and math skills: Windows-based computer programs including MS Word, Excel, and Access 
CompensationThe expected salary range for this position is $22.00-$24.00 per hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base salary we reasonably expect to pay for this role.
