Responsibilities:
<ul><li>What You’ll Do<ul><li>Lead Survey Work from Start to Finish.</li><li>Produce and seal boundary, topographic, platting, and easement surveys.</li><li>Prepare legal descriptions and survey documentation in compliance with Texas law and TBPELS requirements.</li><li>Maintain accurate, high-quality deliverables from initial research through final submission.</li></ul></li><li>Keep Projects Moving Smoothly<ul><li>Coordinate closely with project managers, CAD staff, survey technicians, and field crews.</li><li>Provide clear directions to ensure tasks stay on track.</li><li>Identify and resolve issues early to prevent delays.</li><li>Maintain strong communication with internal teams and clients.</li></ul></li><li>Support & Mentor Team Members<ul><li>Guide SITs and technicians toward professional growth and licensure.</li><li>Reinforce consistent QA/QC standards.</li><li>Maintain a supportive, professional working environment.</li></ul></li><li>Build and Maintain Client Relationships<ul><li>Participate in project kickoff and coordination meetings.</li><li>Prepare proposals for survey work, including scope and project details.</li><li>Serve as a professional representative for the company with municipal and private-sector clients.</li><li>Other job duties.</li></ul></li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Active Texas RPLS license, or comity-eligible.</li><li>Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or related field.</li><li>Proficiency in modern surveying technology and software.</li><li>Experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) software.</li><li>Strong knowledge of local and federal surveying laws and regulations.</li><li>Minimum of 5 years experience in land surveying.</li><li>Strong skills in boundary analysis and legal descriptions.</li><li>Proficiency with Trimble GNSS and robotic total stations.</li><li>Experience with platting, courthouse research, and easement documentation.</li><li>Ability to maintain quality control, guide workflow, and communicate clearly.</li><li>Preferred experience with UAVs, scanning, or land development projects.</li><li>Valid driver's license.</li></ul> Benefits and PerksWe offer a comprehensive benefits program that supports the whole person. Thompson Engineering has a full time opportunity for a Survey Party Chief. The Surveyor Party Chief oversees the survey crew in the daily responsibilities of the land surveying department. This position is responsible for reporting survey data to the Survey Team Manager. Participate in project design development reviews as directed using Bluebeam Revu.</li><li>Review submittals, shop drawings, ASIs, RFIs, CCRs, material testing reports, etc., for conformance with the project requirements and to stay current on the project scope for projects under construction.</li><li>Observe, track, monitor, and report on construction activities and conformance with approved drawings/specifications, project requirements, and standards to TTUS FP&C project administration throughout the Construction Services phase.</li><li>Submit weekly Field Observation Reports (FOR) through all phases of construction, documenting construction progress, systems testing, requested inspections, and milestones using Bluebeam Revu.</li><li>Witness all inspections required by contract documents as well as all required IBC special inspections.</li><li>Assist in the coordination of campus utilities and infrastructure shut-downs/closures with component institutions and other TTUS departments.</li><li>Provide support to projects by monitoring and ensuring compliance with OSHA health and safety regulations.</li><li>Other duties and responsibilities as required.</li></ul> Grant Funded?
