There is <br/>flexibility as to whether this is a full-time or part-time position.</p><p>The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of <br/>the grounds at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church and School. The Groundskeeper will maintain lawns, trees, shrubs, <br/>flowers, and fields. The Groundskeeper will employ insecticides, chemical sprays, fertilizers and <br/>mulches to optimize the condition of greenery. This individual will keep grounds free from trash, <br/>litter, debris, weeds, plant diseases</p><p>and harmful insects as well as maintain equipment and supplies, ordering as needed. To be <br/>successful in this role, the Groundskeeper must ensure grounds are pleasant-both visually and <br/>operatively-at all times, while maintaining needed equipment. Top candidates are hard-working, <br/>meticulous, self-motivated, and patient.<br/>The position reports to the Pastor and Principal, collaborates with the pastoral and administrative <br/>staff, and operates under the daily supervision of the Director of Facilities and Grounds.</p><p><strong>Essential Duties:</strong></p><p> Grounds Maintenance<br/> Maintain lawns, flower beds, trees, and shrubbery (mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, <br/>watering, fertilizing).<br/> Remove debris, leaves, trash, and other litter from grounds, walkways, and parking lots.<br/> Perform seasonal maintenance such as leaf removal, tree trimming, and seasonal planting.<br/> Maintain playgrounds and sports fields.<br/> Maintain irrigation systems and hoses; report malfunctions.<br/> Perform other duties such as powerwashing, drainage maintenance, and mulching.</p><p> Outdoor Facilities Upkeep<br/> Inspect and maintain outdoor signage, fencing, benches, lighting, and statuary.<br/> Set up and take down outdoor spaces for events.<br/> Report damages or needed repairs to the Facilities Manager.</p><p> Safety & Stewardship<br/> Ensure all outdoor areas are safe and accessible.<br/> Maintain sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas to prevent hazards.<br/> Assist with minor outdoor repairs and maintenance.<br/> Use tools and equipment responsibly and maintain in good working condition.</p><p> Other Duties<br/> Assist with indoor maintenance tasks as needed, particularly during inclement weather.<br/> Assist in janitorial and cleaning tasks as needed.<br/> Setting up and tearing down tables and chairs for services, meetings, and special events.<br/> Collaborate with school and church staff for event support or emergency needs.</p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><p> High school diploma or GED required.<br/> Uphold Catholic values in demeanor, behavior, and work ethic.</p><p> Experience in landscaping, groundskeeping, or facility maintenance preferred.<br/> Knowledge of lawn care equipment, irrigation systems, and outdoor safety protocols.<br/> Ability to work independently, take initiative, and prioritize tasks.<br/> Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, standing for long periods, and working in various <br/>weather conditions.<br/> Must pass background check and meet archdiocesan Safe Environment requirements.</p><p><strong>Mission Fit</strong></p><p>As a visible member of the church and school community, the Groundskeeper plays a supportive role <br/>in the Catholic mission of hospitality, respect, and service.
