The position is full-time, 32 hours per week. SUMMARY The Advanced Practice Clinician (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Certified Nurse Midwife, and other licensed providers) will function as part of a healthcare team to provide care under the medical supervision of the Medical Director in accordance with PPFA and PPNorCal Medical Standards and Guidelines and all relevant federal, state, and local regulations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- include the following: Other duties may be assigned. HEALTH CENTER Work in the health center providing comprehensive clinical sexual and reproductive health care services to all patients in accordance with evidence-based practice protocols. Utilize knowledge of and experience in patient care to: <ul><li>Obtain a basic health history and comprehensive gynecological (GYN) history. </li><li>Perform a general physical exam, breast exam, GYN exam, and male genitourinary exam. </li><li>Recognize common breast and GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. </li><li>Recognize common non-GYN deviations from normal and provide management or referral as appropriate. </li><li>Provide preventive care, including screening for breast and cervical cancers. </li><li>Obtain and interpret laboratory tests and results related to GYN visits. </li><li>Perform and interpret transvaginal and abdominal ultrasounds. </li><li>Screen for contraindications and special conditions to contraceptive methods. </li><li>Provide appropriate contraception to patients, including intrauterine contraceptives (IUCs) and implants. </li><li>Test and treat STI's and other infectious conditions. </li><li>Provide PrEP and nPEP to prevent HIV infection. </li><li>Provide care across the reproductive health lifespan, including basic infertility services and menopause management. </li><li>Provide medication abortion, early pregnancy complication management, and other special services as appropriate by licensure. </li><li>Assess and manage complications from in-clinic abortion, medication abortion, and vasectomy. Depending on location may support in-clinic abortion clinic. </li><li>Provide care for patients of all gender identities, including gender-affirming care. </li><li>Construct an accurate assessment and treatment plan based on history, exam, and lab findings. </li><li>Provide patient with general reproductive health maintenance, education, and counseling. </li><li>Ensure complete and accurate medical documentation in EHR application and bill and code patient visits appropriately. </li><li>Function as a medical resource for health center staff. </li><li>Participate in health center efforts to achieve established goals for productivity, with the minimum goal of 3.0 encounters per hour. </li><li>Participate in research studies conducted in the health center. </li><li>Exercise a commitment diversity, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with patients and staff. </li><li>Participate in and model the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives of PPNorCal. </li></ul>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLINICIAN This job has no supervisory responsibilities. However, APCs are responsible for the medical oversight and instruction of the Reproductive Health Specialists and other medical support staff. Prenatal experience strongly desired if applying for a prenatal position. </li><li>Must be PPNorCal trained and privileged prior to taking on additional areas of care- i.e.; Telehealth, MRD, After-Hours, Pre-Natal, etc. </li><li>Common sense and a commitment to excellent customer service and quality health care. </li><li>Commitment to working with low-income and culturally diverse patients with an emphasis on health equity and empowerment. </li><li>Good judgment to serve patients promptly, competently, and in a friendly manner.
