JOB SUMMARY:The Mentor Coach is responsible to support and expand early educator's knowledge on early childhood education best practices as well as increase knowledge of the tools and resources used by KCAO Head Start/Child Development through coaching, training and technical assistance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li style="text-align:justify">In collaboration with Education Services, review and update annually the education service area plan in cooperation with staff and parents.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Conduct regular site visits and develops meaningful, productive relationships with site directors and teaching staff.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Coach and guide staff through the implementation of a developmentally and linguistically appropriate approach to child development and education.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Provide staff with support and strategies for challenging behaviors. </li><li style="text-align:justify">Provide technical assistance, support, materials, and equipment to staff working with children including children with special needs. </li><li style="text-align:justify">Recruit and develop contracts with mental health consultants for Head Start service requirements.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Provide initial and ongoing training and technical assistance to staff including but not limited to: CLASS, Creative Curriculum, DRDP, ECERS, CSEFEL and other tools used within the program.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Conduct CLASS observations as required by Head Start Performance Standards </li><li style="text-align:justify">Plan and implement professional development opportunities such as learning communities and onsite trainings based on best practices, Head Start Performance Standards </li><li style="text-align:justify">In collaboration with Education Services team, conduct ECERS observations according to the timeline that is </li><li style="text-align:justify">Support school readiness programming with assigned teaching staff.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Conduct observations within classrooms and provides on-site consultation to teaching staff.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Perform other duties as required.</li></ul> EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field from a recognized college or university; AND</li><li>At least two (2) years of experience as a supervisor in a child development, or similar, program;</li></ul>AND<ul><li>Current Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or obtain within 6 months of employment; AND</li><li>Must have3 units in Infant and Toddler Development</li><li>ANDobtain an additional 3 units within 18 months of employment.</li></ul> OTHER REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li style="text-align:justify">Travel and attend out of area meetings and conferences as required per the funding source(s).</li><li style="text-align:justify">Work variable hours and days, including those outside regular Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. business hours.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Meet and maintain KCAO hiring requirements which include:<ul><li style="text-align:justify">Criminal Record Clearance including California DOJ, FBI, Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI), FBI, Child Abuse Centralized Index (CACI), National Sex Offender Public Website (NSOPW), and the California Sex and Arson Registry (CSAR)(Megan's Law). </li><li style="text-align:justify">Reliable, insured transportation and valid California Driver License</li><li style="text-align:justify">Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) acceptable to KCAO's vehicle insurer.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Health examination with tuberculin clearance.</li><li style="text-align:justify">AND contingent on employment candidate will be required to provide documentation of your Measles, and Pertussis immunizations.</li><li style="text-align:justify">Influenza immunization highly preferred.</li></ul></li><li style="text-align:justify">Ability to be contacted outside of regularly scheduled work hours in case of emergency.</li></ul>KCAO is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a Drug Free Workplace KCAO participates in the E-Verify program that electronically confirms an employee's authorization to work in the United States that complies with the I-9 form.
