<h2><strong>Mine Health & Safety Director (Underground Mining)</strong></h2><p><strong>Location: Gouverneur, New York (On-Site)</strong><br/><strong>Relocation Support Available</strong></p><p>This is not a policy-driven safety role.</p><p>This is a <strong>hands-on leadership position</strong> responsible for driving safety performance across an active underground mining operation.</p><p>You’ll take ownership of compliance, culture, and continuous improvement, working directly with operational leadership to ensure safety is embedded into how the mine runs day to day.</p><h3><strong>The Role</strong></h3><ul><li> Lead the development of a strong, accountable safety culture across site </li><li> Act as the primary point of contact for MSHA, including inspector visits and compliance management </li><li> Conduct and lead audits across underground and surface operations </li><li> Drive hazard evaluations, risk assessments, and corrective actions </li><li> Lead incident investigations, including root cause analysis and prevention strategies </li><li> Advise operational leadership on safety performance and improvement opportunities </li><li> Oversee safety coordinators and training functions across site </li><li> Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations </li></ul><h3><strong>What Matters</strong></h3><ul><li> Proven experience in Health & Safety within mining (underground strongly preferred) </li><li> Confidence operating as the lead contact for regulatory bodies (MSHA experience essential) </li><li> Strong track record in risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action </li><li> Experience building and sustaining a safety culture in an operational environment </li><li> Ability to influence, challenge, and work closely with site leadership </li><li> Experience managing or leading safety teams </li><li> MSHA certifications (Blue Card IU / IS / MM) highly desirable </li></ul><h3><strong>The Environment</strong></h3><ul><li> Active underground mining operation with both surface and underground scope </li><li> High accountability role reporting into senior operational leadership </li><li> Site-based position requiring full on-site presence </li></ul><h3><strong>Why This Role</strong></h3><ul><li> Direct influence on site safety performance and operational standards </li><li> Leadership position with visibility across the entire operation </li><li> Opportunity to shape safety culture, not just maintain compliance </li><li> Backed by a business focused on operational excellence and long-term development </li></ul><h3><strong>Apply</strong></h3><p>If you’ve led Health & Safety in a mining environment and are comfortable owning both compliance and culture at site level, apply now.</p>
