Landis Woods Park: 2369 Lititz Pike Summary:Work with the Nature Day Camp Director and co-counselors to facilitate the day-to-day operations of the camp, as well as provide a fun, safe, and memorable camp experience. Working hours for this position will vary Monday-Friday between the hours of 6:45AM-6:15PM for the duration of the 10-week program (8-9-hour shift). Select mandatory training schedule will be provided by Recreation Department manager. Essential Functions<ol><li>Plan and implement environmental education lessons alongside co-counselors.</li><li>Provide a safe environment for all campers.</li><li>Lead and assist in coordinating structured games, activities, and crafts.</li><li>Keep track of supplies including sporting equipment, crafts, and board game pieces. </li><li>Promote a positive outdoor experience.</li><li>Supervise campers' daily activities. </li></ol> Related Functions<ol><li>A passion for the outdoors.</li></ol> Physical Requirements<ol><li>Ability to talk, hear, and see.</li><li>Must be able to traverse park trails, with varying degrees of difficulty, at least 1.5 miles</li><li>Able to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently, with or without accommodation.</li><li>Ability to supervise students in multiple environments including in nature on trails, fields, and woodlands.</li></ol> Competencies<ol><li>Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification</li><li>Willingness to engage with parents and communicate about their child's growth and success. </li><li>Knowledge of English word usage, spelling, and punctuation.</li></ol>Skills<ol><li>Knowledge of various recreational games and activities. </li><li>Good leadership, communication, and social skills.</li></ol> Abilities<ol><li>Communicate effectively with participants and parents.</li><li>Give clear and concise instructions.</li></ol> Required Education and Experience<ol><li>High School Diploma or G.E.D.</li><li>1-year experience supervising children.</li><li>Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age</li></ol> Preferred Education and Experience<ol><li>Enrolled in a secondary education program for Education, Park and Rec, or related field.</li><li>1-year supervising children.</li></ol> Additional Eligibility Requirements<ol><li>Must pass required State and Federal Background Checks</li></ol>  DisclaimerThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
