Overview:
Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Packaging Specialist based in Elwood. This opening is for afternoon shift.<ul><li>Weekly pay starting at $19.60 per hour.</li><li>Benefits effective on day one: Medical, Dental, Vision, and 401(k) with match.</li></ul>Packaging Specialists are responsible for general housekeeping of the production area, case making, inspecting, and packing of finished product in accordance with established procedures, specifications and other guidelines. The primary duties of a Packaging Specialist include:<ul><li>Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.</li><li>Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.</li><li>Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.</li><li>Visually inspect finished product for defects before packing to ensure quality.</li><li>Follow written packing instructions.</li><li>Notify supervisor or lead of potential problems with finished product and/or machinery.</li><li>Grind bottles as necessary, checking for contamination before grinding</li><li>Open and inspect bundles of corrugated material and check for proper printing and defects.</li><li>Stack case/dividers on carts and feed individual cases and dividers into case forming machine.</li><li>Use case making equipment in a safe manner.</li><li>Notify the appropriate coworker or assignee when supplies at the machine need to be replenished.</li><li>Communicate with incoming shift or line replacement on any problems with quality, machine, and packing configurations.</li><li>Assist with rework and heldware to ensure effective completion.</li><li>Assist in the training of regular and temporary workforce in stacking, packing quality, and case machines.</li><li>Keep work area and other facilities clean, orderly and safe.</li><li>Complete written documentation as required.</li><li>Limited travel may be required</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Previous manufacturing experience a plus.Packaging Specialists are required to interact with managers, employees, vendors, and customers. Therefore, the following skills and proficiencies are also essential requirements of the position:<ul><li>Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance.</li><li>Computer usage and typing skills are essential.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.</li><li>Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.</li><li>Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.</li><li>Communicates effectively: conveys facts and information clearly both verbally and orally.</li><li>Collaborates well with others: proactively contributes to group objectives; volunteers to help others.</li></ul>

Compensation Statement:
The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.

You focus on improving safety, reducing costs, enhancing quality, and maximizing effectiveness through long-term planning and project implementation. You serve as the key communicator between Warehouse Operations and Production planning and operations. In this role, you manage hourly employees who handle receiving, storage, material delivery, and shipping functions to support plant production. You ensure your team receives proper training, development, and consistent application of plant policies and procedures. Key Outputs/Deliverables: + Supervise day-to-day activities of assigned department. + Provide guidance and training to hourly workforce to ensure production, supply chain and quality goals are met. + Meet scheduled commitments on a timely basis with respect to mixing, sifting and delivering WIP to designated areas. + Meet shipping and receiving schedules as well as inventory control and accuracy. + Maintain positive employee relations, open communications while resolving employee discipline or performance issues. + Maintain professional relationships with other departments within the plant and corporate offices. + Prepare paperwork / reports on a timely basis. + Follow all sanitation, GMP, safety, quality and employee relation programs. + Confirm processes are run in accordance with SOP’s, SOPP’s and other documentation. + Identify, recommend, develop and implement improvements in safety, quality, processes, costs and SOP documentation. + Responsible to have safe work instructions available for all positions. + Meet ad-hoc customer requirements or to deal with unexpected Supply Chain disruptions + Develop, maintain and empower a quality conscientious attitude among employees. + Help identify long term opportunities and solutions for continuous improvement. + Promote open communications between shifts and departments. + Develop teamwork approach to teams. + Warehouse Supervisor will drive LEAN activities to improve performance. + Ensure all raw material, packaging material, WIP and finished goods are handled within GMP and FIFO guidelines. + Drive cost saving initiatives to improve performance and cost of the warehouse operation. Also ensure the correct construction, control and management of the budget of warehousing (cost budget for warehousing and possible investment requirements). + Ensure all employees have the required level of safety training, all equipment and installations are well maintained with safety guards & devices and associates are using the appropriate PPE. + Assure activities being performed having an environmental impact are communicated and accomplished according to the environmental management systems. Qualifications: + BA/BS in Logistics / Supply Chain preferred + Minimum 5 years related work experience (including military). + Firm understanding of manufacturing production, distribution and logistics processes. + Communication skills (strong verbal and written required). + Strong troubleshooting / problem-solving (analytical) skills + Strong interpersonal skills (ability to effectively work with all levels from hourly to management). + Strong leadership and teamwork skills. + Strong time management and multi-tasking skills. + Proficiency in SAP, GLOBE (internal candidates), MRP. + Ability to periodically lift loads heavier than 30-50 pounds. + Ability to stand and/or walk more than 50-75% of a shift if required.
