Paraprofessionals are not responsible for the design, direction or evaluation of the teaching/learning process. Because the Paraprofessional is assisting students, regular attendance is required to fulfill the duties of this position. A Paraprofessional may be used in any instructional situation under the direct, immediate supervision of a certified professional to perform those tasks specified in the job description. The role of the assistant varies according to the program assignment. The assistants are expected to create and maintain an atmosphere which is beneficial to the physical and emotional health of the youth. Teacher Assistants will also guide and direct the children in care and participate in assessments of the progress of each youth. All staff are mandated reporters.</div><div> </div><div>Responsibilities:</div><ul><li>Provide Support, encouragement, dignity, and discipline for the children.</li><li>Provide opportunities for growth and moral character through challenging activities, education and entertainment.</li><li>Encourage and enable children to develop self-help skills, clean up after themselves, and participate in the maintenance of facility where appropriate.</li><li>Assure compliance with procedures in cases of suspected child abuse/neglect.
