Working Conditions: Must be able to stand, walk and/or run, and remain active for an eight-hour shift; Must be able to walk large areas of the Zoo as needed; Must be able to work in an outdoor weather environment in all seasons and weather, including heat/humidity, cold temperatures, and/or wet conditions; Ability to work a flexible schedule to include weekends, holidays, and special events; and, Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 25 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects; and, Exposure to potential environmental hazards such as poison oak/ivy, uneven terrain, insect bites/stings, and Hepatitis B depending on the position. Communication (Internal and External): Greet guests and respond appropriately to guests’ questions, comments, or concerns in a friendly, professional, and informed manner; Monitor unauthorized persons and loitering in or around the parking lots and notify Dispatch and/ or management of suspicious persons or activities; Communicate with the Security Department by radio contact as needed following Zoo radio etiquette and protocol at all times; and, Contact an appropriate Security staff member necessary to resolve security issues by radio contact as needed to communicate information.
