Parking Enforcement Officer Trainee positions, assigned to the Police Department in a training capacity, patrol City streets for parking violations, safety hazards, and turn over parking; issue parking citations to vehicles parked in violation of state and city parking regulations; drive a three-wheel vehicle to enforce, mark tires, report broken meters, and run vehicle registration checks; communicate with police dispatchers; control traffic; provide general information to the public; respond to parking complaints via department computer/phone, contacting citizens, and responding appropriately; prepare daily journals, communicating using email/phone; perform daily vehicle safety checks; and perform other duties as assigned. Parking Enforcement Officer Trainee employees will be required to perform frequent stooping, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and repeated entering/exiting vehicles, and/or walking up to nine hours per day in an urban setting which includes exposure to vehicle noise and exhaust, hard surfaces, and steep inclines.
