Individually and together, our employees are dedicated to satisfying the mission of our organization which is an unwavering commitment to excellence as we care for the sick and injured; educate physicians, nurses and other health care providers; and improve access to care in the communities we serve, regardless of a patient's ability to pay for health care.</h3>WORK HOURS FOR THIS POSITION:Day shift, part time, 20 hours a week.     In consultation with the Network Director, the Volunteer Engagement Specialist is responsible for developing and managing a quality volunteer program and coordinating the daily functions of Volunteer Services at their assigned campus(es).JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Work with the Network Director in identifying hospital needs for volunteers and related support.</li><li>Coordinates the efforts of the volunteers with various departments acting as an internal consultant to design new programs and address volunteer issues.</li><li>Recruits, screens, interviews, selects, assigns and evaluates volunteers.</li><li>Provides an orientation for new volunteers, arranges appropriate training and arranges appropriate training and first day introductions.</li><li>Oversees risk management of volunteers to ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with health care industry laws and regulations.</li><li>Counsels volunteers and provides corrective action when approved standards of performance are not met, notifying the Network Director when chronic or severe.</li><li>Processes, organizes and maintains volunteer applications of accepted and current volunteers following established office protocol.</li><li>Provides recognition of service through awards, daily interaction and arranges for/collaborates with the development of the National Volunteer Week celebration.  Arranges for/ awards the High School Student Scholarship award.</li><li>Keeps the Network Director informed by written and verbal reports.  Supplies monthly departmental updates and actively participates in process improvement and goal setting.</li><li>Provides leadership support for the department, in the absence of the Network Director.</li><li>Maintains volunteer schedules, absences and hourly records via the appropriate volunteer tracking program.  Obtains volunteer substitutes in key areas as necessary. Addresses attendance issues as they arise.</li><li>Promotes/advertises volunteer engagement locally either in person, through online volunteer advertisements, local newspapers, career fairs, recruitment events, etc. Coordinates and/or collaborates with departments with special programs provides support for various specialty programs as related to their campus: Premedical and PA Observer Program, Research Volunteers, etc.</li><li>Prepares office correspondence, volunteer mailings, orders uniforms, name tags, regular review of assignment guides, check requests, purchase orders, collects mail daily and ensures an organized and clean department.</li><li>Keeps current with software programs and web-based tracking program used in the department.</li><li>Other duties as requested.</li></ul>PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:Sitting for up to seven hours per day and three hours at a time.  Frequently uses of fingers for writing and or word processing, twisting, and turning occasionally.  Uses upper extremities to occasionally lift and carry items up to 20 lbs.  Occasionally stoops/bends and reaches above shoulder level.  Hearing as it relates to normal conversation.  Seeing as it relates to general vision, near vision, peripheral vision and visual monotony.EDUCATION:Bachelor’s degree required, experience in lieu of degree will be considered. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:Prior experience preferred in recruiting, interviewing, training and supervision of students/adults in volunteer program/setting. Enforces all pharmacy departmental policies and procedures. Performs duties as assigned by the AdministratorJOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled within the Network/Entity as well as the proper release of information.</li><li>Complies with Network and departmental policies regarding issues of employee, patient and environmental safety and follows appropriate reporting requirements.</li><li>Demonstrates/models the Network's Service Excellence Standards of Performance in interactions with all customers (internal and external).</li><li>Maintains a high level of Customer Service. Assures completion of Customer Complaint documentation and follow-up per Homestar policy and reports customer service issues to Administration.</li><li>Demonstrates Performance Improvement in the following areas as appropriate: Clinical Care/Outcomes, Customer/Service Improvement. Reports to DEA as required.</li><li>Assists with review of pharmacy-related patient and family educational materials.</li><li>Oversees and coordinates site-specific MEDS bedside delivery service assuring adequate staffing and training, timeliness and accuracy, and service excellence.</li><li>Reports and tracks medication errors. Takes appropriate measures to prevent errors and takes measures to correct.</li><li>Serves as a medication resource to patients and other departments. Assures patient medication related counseling is offered.</li><li>Assures that referral tracking data is maintained accurately and completely.</li><li>Assists in the development of and oversees new projects and services.</li></ul>PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:Frequent fingering and handling.
