Maintains low-pressure boilers, high-pressure boilers, power boilers, steam boilers, or hot water heating systems. Knowledge of the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of turbines, condensers, boilers, and related auxiliaries including oil purification systems.

Salary: Ranging from $35-$55 depending on roles, responsibilities, location, and experience.  Duties/Responsibilities:<ul><li>Performs routine maintenance on boiler equipment and systems.</li><li>Maintains low-pressure boilers, high-pressure boilers, power boilers, steam boilers, or hot water heating systems.</li><li>Replaces defective valves, filters, or steam gauges.</li><li>Monitors boiler system to ensure it is operating safely and properly; facilitates periodic boiler cleaning.</li><li>Tests boiler water for corrosive deposits and treats the water with chemicals to prevent buildup.</li><li>Complies with all relevant safety regulations and procedures, including the handling and storage of hazardous materials.</li><li>Basic operation of a generator and plant electric systems.</li><li>Maintains accurate records of boiler operations, maintenance activities, and inspections.</li><li>Addresses any problems with boiler systems and notifies maintenance when needed.</li><li>Monitors fuel and water levels, as well as pressure and temperature readings, and makes necessary adjustments to ensure safe and efficient boiler operation.</li><li>Responds promptly to emergency situations, such as equipment failures or system malfunctions, and takes appropriate corrective actions.</li><li>Contacts supervisor concerning potentially dangerous equipment or safety violations.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul> Required Skills/Abilities:<ul><li>Extensive knowledge of industrial boiler operation and maintenance.</li><li>Knowledge of automatic control systems for plant systems.</li><li>Knowledge of polishing effluents from plant, as well as environmental laws.</li><li>Knowledge of power plant emissions monitoring and control.</li><li>Knowledge of power plant environmental regulations including wastewater treatment and solid waste handling.</li><li>Knowledge of basic knowledge of metallurgy and nondestructive examination.</li><li>Knowledge of the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of turbines, condensers, boilers, and related auxiliaries including oil purification systems</li><li>Knowledge of power plant physics and chemistry of combustion.</li><li>Familiarity with psychometric charts.</li><li>Ability to supervise repairs on all plant machinery.</li><li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.</li><li>Excellent mechanical skills.</li><li>Ability to follow safety procedures and processes.</li><li>Excellent communication skills</li><li>Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and be on-call if necessary.</li></ul> Education & Experience:<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required.</li><li>Valid state Boiler Engineer 1st Class license.</li><li>Technical/vocational school training and experience working with industrial boilers.</li></ul> Physical Requirements:<ul><li>Physically able to inspect and repair boilers.</li><li>Able to work in confined spaces.</li><li>Must be able to lift 35 pounds at a time. </li></ul>
