AMIkids Caddo is located in Shreveport, LA.  In partnership with the Caddo Parish Public Schools, it serves an alternative school of choice for students in grades 6-8.  The school began operation in 2016 is based on the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (APGM) to allow choice, flexibility, and accountability for students who otherwise might not succeed in the traditional school setting. The program is founded on the believe that all children have the potential to change and succeed in life, especially when given the proper direction and support.   Position SummaryThe Behavior Interventionist has primary responsibility for overall instructional behavioral interventions. The Behavior Interventionist is the first line of escalation when student issues arise, and additional support is needed and provides effective leadership to motivate and guide staff and students toward the successful accomplishment of established program goals and objectives. Employee is also responsible for driving the achievement of the school’s objectives by supporting classroom management, tutoring and computer lab assistance, under the direction of the Director of Education or school leader.Essential Job Duties:<ul><li>Assists and supports day to day instructional and behavioral interventions; provides redirection and support to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior in the classroom setting.</li><li>Prevent and intervene in youth altercations and incidents, using the authorized state mandated training methods,</li><li>Administer first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with the national standards,</li><li>Supervises and participates in a wide variety of academic, vocational, and motivational activities on and off campus; serves as advisor and positive role model for assigned students in support of the Personal Growth Model ® (PGM)</li><li>Provides one-on-one tutoring and computer lab assistance as needed</li><li>Participates in the preparation of student’s educational development plans.</li><li>Supervises students in accordance with operational policies and procedures to ensure the safety and security of all staff and students; performs all duties in compliance with all terms and conditions of contractual agreements</li><li>Manages custodial and maintenance tasks to ensure safe and sanitary facilities are provided.</li><li>Coordinates and oversees effective operations of transportation and security systems to ensure the safety and well-being of students, staff, and the general public</li><li>Completes/reviews reports, and logs as required; includes Incident Report forms, vehicle maintenance logs, facility maintenance etc.</li><li>Instructs students in the general care and maintenance of school and equipment; may supervise the safe handling of program property and equipment according to establish policies and procedures ensuring all appropriate safety measures and precautions are observed, e.g., marine vessels, vehicles, equipment</li><li>Adheres to all contract and state educational guidelines and Quality Improvement requirements.</li><li>Acts as Safety Security Coordinator; administers first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with American Red Cross standards</li><li>Assists in the establishment of policies and procedures to provide leadership and control in the event of a school crisis</li><li>May supervise two- to seven-day overnight trips and occasional extended trips that may require sleeping in tents, boats, Schools’, etc. under varying weather conditions and that may require extended 16-hour workdays/24 hour on-call status</li><li>Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention and physical restraint training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,</li><li>Transport youth and may drive for other work-related tasks</li><li>Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Minimum Education, Training and Experience<ul><li>High School diploma/GED, Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferred,</li><li>One (1) year of experience within an educational or youth service program, preferably working with troubled youth; or any equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.</li></ul>What's in it for you? In addition, as a staff member, the education instructor's primary concerns include the safety, supervision, advising, counseling and role modeling for our students.Essential Job Functions<ul><li>Instruct students in basic middle- and senior-high school subjects.</li><li>Prepares and maintains an educational development plan for each student.</li><li>Researches, selects and maintains appropriate educational materials, equipment and resources.</li><li>Adheres to all contract and state educational guidelines and Quality Assurance requirements.</li><li>Maintains lesson plans for area of responsibility.</li><li>Coordinates all activities with the Education Coordinator or Principal.</li><li>Administers pre/post academic assessment tests and pre-GED tests and manages the documentation of Carnegie Units (high school credits) for reach student.</li><li>Maintains accurate and complete administrative file systems.</li><li>Performs home visits as dictated by program standards and/or state contract.</li><li>Serves as advisor and positive role model for assigned students.</li><li>Drives institute vehicles as required in accordance with the Van Policy.</li><li>Administers first aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with Red Cross standards.</li><li>Actively participates in day trips and special activities that involve recreational sports, facility and equipment cleaning, grounds maintenance and equipment relocation.</li><li>Effective use of the Behavior Modification System by providing redirection and coaching to students who exhibit inappropriate behavior</li><li>Prevents and intervenes in student altercations and incidents.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.</li></ul>Minimum Education, Training and Experience<ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required.
