Med-Surg assignments may include oncology patients (including neutropenic and postoperative patients), psych patients, and general medical-surgical patients with postoperative needs, COPD, CHF, sepsis, DVT, AKI, dialysis, or COVID; COVID is common on this floor. Rehab patients include stroke, spinal cord injury, TBI, multi-trauma, post-COVID, and post-ICU cases; ventilators and tracheostomies are on the unit, with respiratory therapy providing just-in-time training, and patients have Med-Surg-level acuity.
