It’s fast-paced on occasion and you’ll be the person they rely on to answer questions during registration. You’ll build trust in these interactions by collecting information accurately and quickly but also by listening with compassion - not just to hear information, but to address their fears, concerns, and questions.  To thrive in this job, you’ll need to be a confident multi-tasker who is a quick study with technology and can type and answer phones. You don’t need to have any previous experience or knowledge in healthcare. Since this is a hospital/lab environment, you will need to be prepared to see illness and injuries. We’ll teach you everything you need to know, which makes this a perfect starting point to launch your healthcare career.  You must also be up to date on all vaccinations, pass a drug test, and pass a background check prior to hire. Here’s what you can expect working in Patient Registration (Customer Service):  <ul><li>Working on computers and answering phones to intake information in a busy environment. You’ll work across multiple screens collecting details that must be input correctly between physician and nurse check-ins. You should feel comfortable working across multiple programs and typing as quickly as patients can talk. You will work around clinicians interrupting the registration process for emergent clinical care.</li><li>Helping people who may be very ill or worried. We’re not human computers intaking information. Patients need you to be there for them and listen carefully to ease their anxiety. You’ll ask follow-up questions and build rapport in real time. </li><li>Fast-paced work environment, often on your feet assisting patients complete their registration. While collecting patient and insurance information may seem straightforward, there is a lot of variation in health plans and coverage, that will require knowledge through training. While the data you collect may be predictable, the people you’ll get it from aren’t. You must work quickly and expect the unexpected. This is not a casual desk job. </li><li>A team you can rely on. Performs selected medical assistant and administrative duties as assigned; Works with Customer Service Representative to ensure quality patient care and scheduling; Works with physician staff to ensure quality patient care; Gives injections; Prepares patients for examination and treatment. Takes patient histories, vital signs, medication history, allergies and immunizations;</li><li>Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary supplies and instruments;</li><li>Performs phlebotomies and prepares lab orders for hospital;</li><li>Applies dressings and conducts pulse oximeter tests;</li><li>Prepares and maintains supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilization;</li><li>Assists with scheduling of tests and treatments as requested;</li><li>Provides general information on departmental policies and procedures as requested;</li><li>Orders and maintains clinical and office supplies and equipment;</li><li>Maintains patient files, records and other information, including documentation into patient’s electronic medical record;</li><li>Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested;</li><li>Provides appropriate information regarding patient billing information to billing department;</li><li>Utilizes the practice’s EMR as trained including proper documentation of all procedures performed and all patient education materials provided to patient;</li><li>Adhere to HIPAA privacy policies and maintain patient confidentiality;</li><li>Assists physicians in retrieving lab and X-ray results as requested;</li><li>Ensure all patient diagnostic orders are printed and distributed correctly on a daily basis;</li><li>Maintain all procedure equipment according to company guidelines – including sterilization of equipment;</li><li>Maintain patient/physician communication daily;</li><li>Provide excellent patient customer service;</li><li>Performs related work as requested/required.</li></ul>GED or High School Equivalent and preferred graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants.Certification from any Medical Assistant School or two years work experience required.AHA or ARC BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification Required.
