Position: Legal Assistant Location: California – Hybrid Position Overview:If you possess a strong work ethic, exceptional organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and want to work in our growing  defense litigation practice group, this may be the opportunity for you!This is a hybrid for our office in LA 90014. Job Requirements:<ul><li>A minimum of 2 years of civil defense litigation experience, preferably in General Liability, Labor and employment, Personal Injury, or other civil defense litigation practice area; previous insurance defense litigation a huge plus. </li><li>Previous experience should include experience with calendaring, docketing, interfacing with court personnel, opposing counsel, clients and vendors, drafting basic pleadings and legal correspondence</li><li>Computer skills: Has basic knowledge of computer operation, internet software, spreadsheet software and word processing software; the use of Microsoft products is preferred. Has the ability to type and operate office equipment.</li><li>Be self-motivated and a self-starter</li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines effectively</li><li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, and internal team members</li><li>Detail-oriented with a keen eye for accuracy, proofreading, and editing legal documents for consistency and completeness</li><li>Proactive and self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment</li><li>Willingness to undertake additional tasks as requested by the attorneys, contributing to the overall success of the team</li><li>Associate degree or Bachelor degree a plus, but not required </li></ul>Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Maintain effective communication with attorneys, clients, courts, counsel, and other relevant parties</li><li>Support attorneys by performing various administrative duties, such as maintaining calendars, managing hearings and deadlines, organizing case files, and coordinating logistics</li><li>Support attorneys by e-filing documents in state or federal court as needed</li><li>Expertly organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices for efficient reference and retrieval (we use Clio)</li><li>Act as a liaison between trial teams and internal/external third parties, including experts and vendors, ensuring effective collaboration and information exchange</li><li>Track case progress, deadlines, and client information efficiently</li><li>Draft basic pleadings such as EOAs, Notices, Motions, discovery, under the supervision of the attorneys</li><li>Prepare responses to discovery requests as needed</li><li>Assist with mediation or trial preparation, as needed</li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and document management systems; experience with Clio a plus</li></ul>What We Offer:<ul><li>Hourly rate depending on depth and years of experience ($30 – 35/hour)</li><li>Annual performance reviews with potential for sizeable increase in salary</li><li>Hybrid or remote work environment</li><li>Flexible work hours</li><li>Medical Insurance – Currently provided by Cigna Healthcare with multiple insurance plans to choose from based on your needs – partially paid for by Firm for the employee; All outpatient mental health services are free of charge with no copays</li><li>Optional Dental & Vision Insurance</li><li>Optional Voluntary Life and Disability Insurance</li><li>Optional Voluntary Accident Insurance</li><li>Optional Critical Illness Insurance</li><li>Optional Cancer Insurance</li><li>Optional Hospitalization Insurance</li><li>Optional Health Savings Account</li><li>Optional Flexible Spending Account</li><li>401k after one calendar year of employment</li><li>Paid time off (PTO) to support your overall well-being</li><li>Collegial work environment </li></ul>About Lydecker:Lydecker is an AV-rated full-service law firm with over 150 attorneys Nationwide!
