We approach problems with creativity and innovation.  The Glen Allen corporate headquarters of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Controller to join our growing practice.  We are looking for a motivated candidate with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.  Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate to achieve the company’s goals and objectives.</li><li>Recommend and execute improvements to processes and systems for enhanced user experience while maintaining a system of internal control.</li><li>Project Manager for Deltek Vantagepoint and related financial systems, including security controls, upgrades, project prioritization, and accounting maintenance.</li><li>Maintain documentation for current financial processes and policies.</li><li>Manage the accuracy and productivity of the day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash, revenue recognition, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, general, and entity accounting (to include joint ventures).</li><li>Manage treasury related activities and relationships with banking partners. </li><li>Cash management, including monitoring debt levels, compliance with debt covenants, and cash forecasting.</li><li>Oversee the financial close process and related financial reporting. Ensure compliance with accounting standards.</li><li>Develop indirect cost rate schedules, facilitate audits and submissions to government entities on a timely basis. Remain current with DOT and FAR requirements. </li><li>Oversee financial and governmental audits for the provision of information, resolving issues and reviewing draft reports.</li><li>Support annual corporate (and associated companies) income tax preparation with external tax firm.</li><li>Oversee other tax filings: business, real estate, personal property, and income; as well as engineering firm licenses, for all entities.</li><li>Team with business units to deliver accurate and timely financial reporting and dashboards.</li><li>Maintain a financial and governmental compliance function and process to ensure company compliance with such regulations.</li><li>Lead financial integrations for any mergers and acquisition activities.</li></ul>Required Skills/Experience:<ul><li>Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance</li><li>CPA certification</li><li>At least 10 years of hands-on accounting managerial experience, preferably within the professional services industry</li><li>Strong knowledge of ASC 606 Revenue Recognition standards</li><li>At least 5 years of Controller level experience or similar</li><li>Detailed knowledge of FAR, DFARS, CAS</li><li>Excellent oral and written communication skills</li><li>Strong customer service and team building mindset</li><li>Strong work ethic and a desire for continual self-improvement</li><li>History of working with multiple business units with varying business models</li><li>Demonstrated history of process improvements through automation or improving the end-user experience</li></ul>Other Requirements:<ul><li>Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check</li><li>Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening</li></ul>The compensation range for this role is between $150,000 to $200,000 annually. A Brief SummaryReporting to the Senior Vice President – Development of Military Housing, the Vice President, Development  is responsible for leading the execution of all development scope of work and supporting the overall operations for the military public private ventures (PPV) project (Homeport Hampton Roads) during the Initial Development Period (IDP). What You Will Do<ul><li>Lead a team of development professionals in executing the responsibilities of the Managing Member contained within the Project Business Agreements for the Homeport Hampton Roads (HHR) IDP.</li><li>Accountable for certifying that all project requirements and covenants are executed in accordance with the project’s governing documents and in full compliance with bondholder and Partner governing agreements.</li><li>Lead internal coordination with inter-company functions; facilitate a cooperative flow of information and inter-company tasks with Asset Management, Operations, Construction, and Finance & Accounting departments. Accountable for all inter-company work products supporting the HHR project.</li><li>As directed by HMC senior leadership, work with the Asset Management team in making recommendations to project Ownership on short-, medium-, and long-term sustainment investments in the project that maximizes the project’s financial performance and quality standards for our residents.</li><li>As directed by HMC senior leadership, work with Operations team on Owner-level business decisions in the administration of Property Management activities that lead to high-quality Project performance.</li><li>Work with the project’s Construction Management team in reviewing cost analysis, schedule and phasing progress, design changes, safety performance, and quality assurance reviews.</li><li>Own the quality and execution of periodic updates to the Project’s financial model. This might include revisions to the IDP, stress tests for proposed variations to the Project’s financial structure, and responses to various Owner requests.</li><li>At the direction of HMC leadership, lead the completion of the project within the established ROI objectives.
