Overview:
The School Speech Language Pathologist works under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to support the evaluation, treatment, and progress monitoring of students with communication disorders. The SLPA plays a vital role in implementing evidence-based therapy sessions, assisting with documentation, and facilitating an inclusive environment that promotes effective communication skills among students.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li data-start="564" data-end="590">Therapeutic Support:</li><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ul data-start="593" data-end="943"><li data-start="593" data-end="713">Assist the supervising SLP in delivering direct speech and language therapy to individual students and small groups.</li><li data-start="716" data-end="827">Implement treatment plans and intervention strategies as directed, using approved techniques and materials.</li><li data-start="830" data-end="943">Provide one-on-one support during therapy sessions to reinforce skill development and monitor student progress.</li></ul></li><li data-start="945" data-end="1240">Documentation & Data Collection:<ul data-start="988" data-end="1240"><li data-start="988" data-end="1121">Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, student progress, and observations, following confidentiality and school policies.</li><li data-start="1124" data-end="1240">Assist in the preparation of materials and reports required for the evaluation and ongoing assessment of students.</li></ul></li><li data-start="1242" data-end="1700">Collaboration & Communication:<ul data-start="1283" data-end="1700"><li data-start="1283" data-end="1419">Work collaboratively with the SLP, classroom teachers, and other related service providers to support students’ communication goals.</li><li data-start="1422" data-end="1561">Communicate with parents/guardians regarding therapy sessions, progress, and strategies for reinforcement at home as directed by the SLP.</li><li data-start="1564" data-end="1700">Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions to stay current on best practices in speech and language pathology.</li></ul></li><li data-start="1702" data-end="1958">Administrative Support:<ul data-start="1736" data-end="1958"><li data-start="1736" data-end="1810">Help organize and maintain therapy materials, supplies, and equipment.</li><li data-start="1813" data-end="1958">Coordinate scheduling of therapy sessions and manage student records in compliance with school regulations and state confidentiality standards.</li></ul></li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li data-start="1985" data-end="2017">Education & Certification:</li><li style="list-style-type: none;"><ul data-start="2020" data-end="2281"><li data-start="2020" data-end="2162">Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Studies, or a related field.</li><li data-start="2165" data-end="2230">Completion of an approved SLPA training program is preferred.</li><li data-start="2233" data-end="2281">Current CPR/BLS certification may be required.</li></ul></li><li data-start="2283" data-end="2517">Experience:<ul data-start="2305" data-end="2517"><li data-start="2305" data-end="2412">Previous experience working with children in an educational or therapeutic setting is highly desirable.</li><li data-start="2415" data-end="2517">Experience in providing direct support in speech and language therapy or related services is a plus.</li></ul></li><li data-start="2519" data-end="2987">Skills & Competencies:<ul data-start="2552" data-end="2987"><li data-start="2552" data-end="2667">Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.</li><li data-start="2670" data-end="2766">Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and documentation.</li><li data-start="2769" data-end="2898">Familiarity with evidence-based therapy techniques and a willingness to learn and implement new strategies under supervision.</li><li data-start="2901" data-end="2987">Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.</li></ul></li></ul>
