You Should Have: High School Diploma AND minimum two years of histology experience OR High School Diploma AND completion of an accredited program in Histotechnology OR Associate's degree in Chemistry, Biology AND one year of histology experience OR Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biomedical Science, Biology or Chemistry National Certification as a MT (ASCP) or HT (ASCP) required State license where required (CA, FL, GA, HI, LA, MT, NV, NY, ND, RI, WV) Thorough knowledge of histology methods and correlation to disease processes Ability to follow protocols for the proper fixation and routine staining of samples Ability to consistently prepare and produce specimen sections with appropriate slide orientation, thickness, and stain quality for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist Demonstrates good technique in the cutting, embedding, orientation and staining of specimens General knowledge of laboratory accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements Excellent communication, teamwork and organizational skills.
