In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial operations across multiple key areas, including international consolidation, internally developed software, variable compensation and payroll related accounting, prepaid expenses, and other operating expenses.This role demands a high degree of ownership and the ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally to support business objectives and improve processes. You will be responsible for month-end close activities, financial analysis, and the development of accounting policies (e.g., capitalized commissions under ASC 340-40), while contributing to the continuous evolution of our accounting function.This is an individual contributor position that will work closely with the broader finance and accounting team in a remote-first environment. We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented professional eager to grow and drive impact.What You'll Do<ul><li>Lead and execute month-end close activities, including:</li><li><ul><li>Preparation and review of journal entries and account reconciliations across key balance sheet and P&L areas</li><li>International consolidation support, including review of local books, topside entries, and foreign currency impacts</li><li>Preparation of monthly flux/variance analysis and follow-up on unexpected movements</li></ul></li><li>Own the accounting for variable compensation plans, including the assessment and capitalization of commissions in accordance with ASC 340-40, preparation of capitalization entries, and ongoing amortization and rollforwards</li><li>Oversee prepaid and other deferral accounting including review of contracts and invoices to determine appropriate capitalization vs. expense treatment</li><li>Support accounting for internally developed software, including partnering with Engineering to identify and track qualifying projects and costs, perform capitalization assessments, and maintain related schedules and amortization.</li><li>Partner with FP&A, Revenue Operations, Payroll, People, and other business stakeholders to ensure accurate financial reporting.</li><li>Perform variance analysis, investigate discrepancies, and deliver insights that support decision-making.</li><li>Prepare audit-ready documentation and act as a key point of contact for external auditors (Big 4).</li><li>Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and tooling to streamline close and control processes</li><li>Drive ad hoc projects, system enhancements, and process transformation initiatives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. </li></ul>What We're Looking For<ul><li>Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA or progress toward CPA strongly preferred.</li><li>4–6 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in SaaS, technology, or a high-growth company.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to accuracy and detail.</li><li>Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modeling).</li><li>Proven ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and adapt to evolving business needs.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels.</li><li>Self-motivated, results-driven, and excited to contribute to a collaborative and growth-oriented team.</li><li>Experience with NetSuite is preferred; familiarity with systems like Zip is a plus.</li><li>Big 4/Public Accounting experience is a plus.</li></ul><div class="content-pay-transparency"><div class="description" style="padding-top:0px">The listed Pay Range reflects the total cash compensation inclusive of annual base salary and annual bonus as applicable. This role is responsible for accurately coding invoices, ensuring proper approval and entering them into the accounts payable system for timely payment. This role will also oversee all aspects of the employee reimbursement process. In addition to these key responsibilities, this role will perform the payroll import process and record all banking activity to the general ledger. This role will assume project management responsibilities as we continue to implement new systems and processes to improve efficiency. The role will assist in managing annual audits and fulfill other accounting requirements, as needed.Accounts Payable: Manage all Accounts Payable functions. Maintain current and accurate vendor records and process weekly expense transactions including invoices, reimbursable employee expenses and company credit card charges. Perform weekly check runs and process electronic payments through online banking portal. General Accounting: Create and enter general ledger journal entries for month-end close. Ensure proper documentation and retention of accounting records as required by all applicable laws. Establish and document accounting procedures for the organization that provide for business continuation. Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Account Reconciliations: Perform account reconciliations as necessary to verify and validate entries into the accounting system. Perform monthly entry of all banking activity and support Senior Director of Finance with the completion of monthly bank account reconciliations. Review and assist with the preparation of account reconciliations prepared by other finance team members. Provide guidance on account reconciliation preparation, as needed. Monthly Financial Statements and Year End Close-Out: Prepare journal entries as needed so that revenue and expenses are properly allocated to program and support functions. Update and retain all supporting documents and subsidiary records. Budget Preparation: Prepare site expense budgets in close collaboration with site personnel and other members of the finance team. Assist other members of the finance team with budget for prepaid expenses and depreciation for all College Possible sites.Audit Engagements: Work with the Senior Director of Finance and Finance Manager in planning and preparation for any and all audits, College Possible is subject to a Federal organization-wide audit annually (Office of Management and Budget A-133). Provide guidance during the audit as needed and assist with management responses as required.Ethical Practices: Complies with all federal, state, and local fiduciary requirements.
