Surveillance: Implements a surveillance system for the organization Assesses, develops, and monitors surveillance methodology Uses written criteria for defining infections Analyzes surveillance data Develops forms for recording data Determines the incidence of healthcare associated infections Communicates with local and state health departments regarding surveillance, outbreaks, epidemiology, and other information required for preparedness and response activities Identifies and isolates patients with communicable diseases, healthcare associated infections, resistant organisms: Identifies clusters of infections Recommend and implements isolation precautions Analyze antimicrobial sensitivity patterns Interpret epidemiologic markers in outbreak investigations Interpret results of laboratory findings Prevention Practices: Monitors and evaluates the quality of infection control and epidemiology/disease transmission to establish best infection control practices Collaborates with all department s of the healthcare facility to design and implement strategies to prevent healthcare associated infections, manage healthcare associated infections and multidrug resistant organisms Works with facility staff to implement infection control prevention practices. Preferred Registration, Licensure and/or Certification: Current Certification in Infection Prevention and Control Current registration or license with experience in the state of Kansas as a Registered Professional Nurse, medical technologist, or clinical laboratory scientist preferred Preferred Education or Experience: Master's degree in public health is preferred.
