Responsibilities Responsible for helping patients with all aspects of care, including diagnosis, treatments, and consultations Provides independent direct advanced practice nursing care, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic studies, evaluates results and prescribes treatment as appropriate Examines and prescribes treatment for clinic patients, assists in activities for the detection and control of communicable diseases, consults with private physicians on diagnoses involving diseases; interprets laboratory data; renders professional services in school health, birth control, maternal and child health, venereal diseases, immunization and TB finding programs, etc. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-rays, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval if applicable Order appropriate treatments, medications and diagnostic studies Respond to inquiries from referring physicians, hospital staff, and patients regarding the diagnosis and treatment of conditions as well as eligibility for research protocols Prepares reports as necessary Assume responsibility and accountability for the continuity of health care regardless of the presence or absence of disease CCR 1480 (b).
