Contribute to the design and implementation of all aspects of the quality management program that includes the use of external beam radiotherapy equipment as well as the review and proposal of changes to procedures followed by radiation therapy staff. While operationally independent, the center is part of a network POD that consists of two nearby, fully staffed, centers located in Mt Pleasant and Greenville in the North East Texas region.

Our client is looking to hire a Medical Physicist who will be located at the Tyler Oncology Cancer Center, which is a community-based cancer center treating an average of 40 patients per day. Additionally, the center has very active PSI and HDR programs, treating more than 300 HDR treatments per year.     The Tyler radiation therapy team consists of one Radiation Oncologist, one Chief Medical Physicist, two site Medical Physicists (shared across the region), two Dosimetrists, three Radiation Therapists, and one CT Technologist. While operationally independent, the center is part of a network POD that consists of two nearby, fully staffed, centers located in Mt Pleasant and Greenville in the North East Texas region. Periodic travel to the other two sites is required based on the POD dynamic and staff coverage.     Responsibilities The essential responsibilities beyond daily clinical tasks include: <ul><li>Periodic evaluation of all equipment for continued utility, appropriateness, reliable performance, age, and condition to make recommendations on practical life span, obsolescence, and replacement</li><li>Contribute to the design and implementation of all aspects of the quality management program that includes the use of external beam radiotherapy equipment as well as the review and proposal of changes to procedures followed by radiation therapy staff</li><li>Assist in the management of radiation oncology information systems, including development of usage protocols, maintenance, and data storage</li><li>Radiation safety duties for the practice, including assisting with employee monitoring, reports, and regulatory issues</li><li>Lead or participate in clinical projects to improve department processes or patient treatments</li></ul> Preferred Experience: <ul><li>Eclipse, and Oncentra treatment planning systems</li><li>HDR planning and treatment.</li><li>ARIA ROIS and Mosiaq ROIS</li><li>SBRT and SRS procedures</li></ul> ?Qualifications The ideal candidate will have <ul><li>CAMPEP Accredited Residency Program in Medical Physics</li><li>Valid Texas Medical Board license</li><li>American Board of Radiology certification or board eligible</li><li>Preferred two years of experience as a certified medical physicist</li><li>Working knowledge of SRS, SBRT, and HDR</li><li>Experience with Varian linear accelerators</li><li>Experience with Eclipse Planning system</li><li>Experience with Oncentra Planning system</li><li>Strong organization and oral / written communication skil</li></ul>

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Facilitate radiation treatments to ensure precise delivery and high-quality care for patients. </li><li>Address theoretical and practical problems of measurements of ionizing radiation under clinical conditions.</li><li>Calibrate radiation-producing and detecting equipment, including nuclear medical apparatus, and measure radiation output of treatment sources and generators.</li><li>Provide all necessary dose-calculation services for patient treatment and diagnosis using external, interstitial, intracavitary, and distributed internal sources, as well as consultation and collaboration services for other departments using radiation in any form.</li><li>Assist in the evaluation, selection, and implementation of innovative software and hardware technologies pertinent to Radiation Oncology.</li><li>Performs and/or assists in developing a Proforma to justify new Radiation Oncology technologies.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
Job Requirements: <ul><li>Master's degree in medical physics</li><li>ABR board eligible  </li><li>Texas licensure</li></ul>Preferred Job Requirements: <ul><li>Completion of a CAMPEP approved residency program </li></ul>
