Location: On-site at a partner school (varies by assignment) Schedule: 1–4 hours per week, after school Program Length: ~10 weeks Start Date: Rolling openings based on school schedules Compensation: $50+ per instructional hour (flexible based on experience, program, and commute)About the RoleConcorde Education is seeking a Band Instructor to lead engaging after-school music programs for students. This role focuses on building foundational musicianship, ensemble skills, and performance confidence through structured, supportive rehearsals.Programs may include beginner bands, mixed-experience groups, or small ensembles depending on the site. The goal is simple: get students playing together, improving, and enjoying music.What You’ll Teach<ul><li>Students will develop core band and ensemble skills, including:</li><li>Instrument technique and posture</li><li>Reading basic music notation and rhythm</li><li>Listening, timing, and playing as a group</li><li>Following a conductor and rehearsal structure</li><li>Basic scales and ensemble repertoire</li><li>Performance preparation and confidence-building</li></ul>Responsibilities<ul><li>Lead structured, engaging rehearsals for small to mid-sized groups</li><li>Support students across varying skill levels and instruments</li><li>Build a positive, inclusive rehearsal environment</li><li>Maintain safe routines for instrument use and classroom management</li><li>Adapt pacing and material to student ability and site needs</li><li>Communicate with site staff and track attendance/session completion</li><li>Prepare students for a simple performance or showcase (when applicable)</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Minimum of 60 college credits</li><li>Experience teaching music, directing ensembles, or giving instrument lessons</li><li>Strong understanding of basic music theory and rehearsal techniques</li><li>Experience working with kids or teens (schools, camps, lessons, etc.)</li><li>Strong communication and classroom management skills</li><li>Reliable, professional, and comfortable in a school setting</li></ul>Who This Role Is Great For<ul><li>Music teachers or aspiring educators</li><li>College students (music education, performance, etc.)</li><li>Private lesson instructors or gigging musicians</li><li>Musicians who enjoy working with students and building ensembles</li></ul>
