Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: <ul><li>Assists faculty/staff in obtaining information on goods and services needed.</li><li>Reviews requisitions and assists in specification development.</li><li>Confers with vendors to obtain product and/or service information, price availability and delivery schedule(s).</li><li>Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase, competitive bid, request for qualifications, or purchase through a cooperative purchasing agreement.</li><li>Prepares solicitation documents for conducting competitive procurement and purchase orders for vendors.</li><li>Resolves defective or unacceptable goods or services with Central Receiving personnel, end users, vendors, and others to determine source of problem and takes appropriate action.</li><li>Expedites delivery of goods to users.</li><li>Assists Purchasing personnel with bid document preparation and vendor correspondence.</li><li>Maintains vendor applications, purchase orders, bid files, and other records for auditing purposes.</li><li>Assist with the College vehicle registration renewals and payments.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Required Education and Experience 1. To qualify, one of the following must be met: <ul><li>College Certificate </li><li>A minimum of 30 earned college hours </li></ul>2. At least two (2) years of purchasing experience, preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities <ul><li>Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.</li><li>Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills.</li><li>Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.</li><li>Ability to work independently as well as a team player within department and with others.</li><li>Ability to adapt to constant change and periods of fast-paced, high-intensity work situations.</li><li>Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as needed; willing to travel throughout the college district using own means of reliable transportation.</li><li>Demonstrated commitment to achieving the vision and mission of South Texas College.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.</li><li>Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.</li><li>Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, clients, customers, vendors, regulatory agencies, and the general public.</li><li>Ability to apply practical understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.</li><li>Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.</li></ul> Checks, Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations <ul><li>Security Sensitive position: all applicants are subject to a criminal background ch</li></ul>
