Incorporating a Recovery Model of Care to provide the framework for a collaborative relationship between the Mental Health Treatment Coordinator and the Veteran: Recovery-based goals enhance accessibility, accountability, and efficiency of services-guiding principles of the Mental Health Treatment Coordinator/Veteran relationship are self-direction and patient responsibility, the facilitation of strength, independence, and hope, and the empowerment of the Veteran in his/her personal health. The Department of Veterans Affairs performs pre-employment reference checks as an assessment method used in the hiring process to verify information provided by a candidate (e.g., on resume or during interview or hiring process); gain additional knowledge regarding a candidates abilities; and assist a hiring manager with making a final selection for a position.
