The Community Ambassador will talk to family, friends, neighbors, and other community members about Southwest Colorado Cares and the types of resources that exist in our region to meet basic needs such as food, housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social supports. We are looking for Community Ambassadors who: have experience working with community members and organizations in Archuleta County or Dolores County; AND/OR have experience working with older adults; AND/OR who are bilingual in Spanish and English and have experience working with Spanish speaking community members.

Community Connections seeks part-time Community Ambassadors to promote Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC), a regional Community Care Hub that helps residents of southwest Colorado get the health and social services they want or need. These part-time positions (7 hours a week) are perfect for a community member who wants flexible, meaningful part-time work and can represent the lived experience of people and marginalized groups within their community. Hourly rate is $20.00, plus reimbursement for travel. We are looking for Community Ambassadors who: have experience working with community members and organizations in Archuleta County or Dolores County; AND/OR have experience working with older adults; AND/OR who are bilingual in Spanish and English and have experience working with Spanish speaking community members. Training will be provided; no educational experience required. Part-Time benefits include: Employee Assistance Program (EAP); unlimited Personal Time Off (PTO). The Community Ambassador will talk to family, friends, neighbors, and other community members about Southwest Colorado Cares and the types of resources that exist in our region to meet basic needs such as food, housing, transportation, healthcare, and other social supports. The Community Ambassador will also work with community organizations to keep the Southwest Colorado Cares resource directory up to date as the go-to guide for finding local resources.   Community Ambassadors will be part of a regional team and work up to 7 hours per week.  We are recruiting up to three Community Ambassadors and are seeking candidates who specifically have experience in the following: <ul><li>Knowledge of and relationship with community members and organizations in Archuleta County or Dolores County </li><li>Knowledge of and experience working with older adults </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish/English and experience working with Spanish speaking community members in Southwest Colorado </li></ul>Strong candidates could have one or several of these experiences. Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Share information about Southwest Colorado Cares (SWCC) and its resources with neighbors, community members, and community organizations  </li></ul><ul><li>Contact community organizations in your area to make sure SWCC has up-to-date information about local resources  </li></ul><ul><li>Represent SWCC at community gatherings, meetings, and events  </li></ul><ul><li>Gather ideas from the community to enhance and improve SWCC  </li></ul>Core Competencies/Qualifications: Specific:<ul><li>Knowledge of and relationship with community members and organizations in Archuleta County or Dolores County AND/OR </li></ul><ul><li>Knowledge of and experience working with older adults AND/OR </li><li>Bilingual in Spanish/English and experience working with Spanish speaking community members in Southwest Colorado </li></ul>Overall: <ul><li>Ability to enthusiastically communicate with others about Southwest Colorado Cares and community resources that improve health and well-being.  </li></ul><ul><li>Strong community ties and passionate about making it easier for community members to get connected to resources to meet their basic needs.  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to represent the lived experience of marginalized groups within our communities.  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to travel, by car or public transportation, throughout your county of residence and occasionally to regional meetings at Community Connections offices in Durango or in other communities in the region.   </li></ul><ul><li>Comfortable using phone, email, and videoconferencing to communicate with Southwest Colorado Cares staff, other Ambassadors, and community members or organizations.   </li></ul><ul><li>Adequate internet connectivity, work area and ability to secure all work activity when working remotely  </li></ul><ul><li>Use of standard office equipment  </li></ul><ul><li>Effective written and in-person communication  </li></ul><ul><li>Ability to commute for business, when needed. If driving, must possess a drivers’ license in the state they reside and current auto insurance.  </li></ul><ul><li>Satisfactory completion of all background checks and references, including Motor Vehicle Record is required.*** </li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>Local travel within the community may be required </li><li>Flexible schedule possible</li></ul>Physical Demands of the Job: These essential tasks may be performed with or without accommodations or assistive technology. Employees in this position may spend significant hours on the computer writing and corresponding. The employee must be able to read text on the computer and paper documents. Communicating with others via email, letters and telephone is required. An employee in this position will use a laptop computer and may also have documents and files that they will need to transport within and outside the office. The employee will be required to attend meetings, training, home visits and other community activities within the region of Southwest Colorado.
