Typical responsibilities: coordinates implementation of treatment strategies developed by treatment team and insures delivery of rehabilitative services; schedules and chairs team meetings; participates in developing treatment strategies; coordinates training sessions conducted by subordinate staff; monitors documentation of treatment services to insure completeness and accuracy; acts as a role model for appropriate conduct and decision-making; encourages and motivates juveniles; implements intervention techniques and facilitates problem-solving sessions with juveniles; may provide individual and group counseling. Willingness to: deal with violence, harassment, threats, verbal abuse; break up fights, control disturbances, and physically restrain offenders; perform searches for contraband and weapons; work alone unarmed among unrestricted offenders; work in secure/locked facility in confined spaces; work in high-stress, hostile environments; learn and follow department policies, procedures, rules, and instructions; set aside personal prejudices and be fair; become certified in CPR.
