Minimum 2+ years recent Emergency Department RN experience required / CERTIFICATIONS – BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC Required / LICENSE – Active RN License Required / Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hrs/week, 13 weeks (6:45 PM–7:15 AM, every other weekend) / Setting: Acute Care – Emergency Department / EMR: Cerner / Skills: Emergency nursing, trauma care, triage, critical care stabilization, ventilator management, IV therapy, cardiac monitoring, EKG interpretation, stroke and cardiac emergency management, and care of behavioral health patients required / Unit Details: 30-bed Emergency Department with 1 trauma bay containing 2 trauma beds; Level II Trauma Center / Ratios: 1:4 / Common Patient Population: Trauma patients, medical emergencies, cardiac and stroke patients, psychiatric holds, and general Emergency Department patients / Drips: Emergency and critical care medication administration and titration as required / RT Equipment: Ventilators and full respiratory support available with RT coverage 24/7 / Charge Nurse: Dedicated charge nurse available; generally does not take patient assignments but provides break relief as needed / Hospitalist/Intensivist Coverage: Available in-house 24/7 / Monitoring: Telemetry monitoring utilized; RNs must independently read and interpret EKG rhythms and cardiac strips / Support Staff: Nurse aides available based on census and staffing needs / Scheduling: Self-scheduling utilized; schedules released 4 weeks in advance and finalized by the manager. Travelers may pick up extra shifts and trade shifts when approved / Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend / Holiday Requirement: Rotates with core staff based on unit needs / Floating: First to float; may float to all Sacramento-area facilities as needed.
