The APP performs physical examinations, obtains procedural consent, collects and documents clinical data, conducts approved diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and leadership. Perform or assist with approved procedures after competency validation, which may include venous and arterial blood sampling, peripheral IV insertion, venous/PICC line removal, urinary catheterization, wound management, urgent/emergent defibrillation or cardioversion, tilt testing, implantable loop recorder insertion, sheath removal, temporary permanent pacemaker dressing changes, and pacemaker/ICD interrogation.
