The advanced practice clinician acts independently and/or in collaboration with the health team in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, care, counsel and health teachings of person who are ill, inured or informed of experiencing changes in normal health processes, and in the promotion and maintenance of health or prevention of illness. Under the supervision of the School Based Health Centers Director, the advanced practice clinician has the responsibility and accountability for providing primary care to clinic patients as allowed under the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act.

accountability for providing primary care to clinic patients as allowed under the Louisiana Nurse Practice Act.Practice will remain within the scope delineated by education training.  The advanced practice clinician provides care and treatment, including routine care to adolescents and children, in accordance with health center policies and protocols.The advanced practice clinician is responsible for participating in development, execution of and periodic review of the written policies governing the services which the health center provides.The advanced practice clinician, in conjunction with the Medical Director, participates in the periodic review of the patient's health records under his/her care.  The advanced practice clinician arranges for or refers patients to needed services that cannot be provided at the health center. The advanced practice clinician assures that adequate patient health records are maintained and transferred as required when patients are referred to other providers. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital.  It is expected that the associate demonstrates behavior consistent with the Core Values.  The associate shall support the CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini strategic plan and the goals and direction of their Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).Responsibilities:When collaborating with other health care providers, the advanced practice nurse shall be accountable for knowledge of the statues and rules relating to advanced practice and function within the boundaries of the appropriate advanced practice category.The advanced practice clinician shall practice within the advanced specialty and role appropriate to his/her advanced practice preparation.The advanced practice clinician acts independently and/or in collaboration with the health team in the observation, assessment, diagnosis, intervention, health or prevention of illness.When providing medical aspects of care, advanced practice clinicians shall utilize mechanisms which provide authority for that care.  These mechanisms may include, but are not limited to, protocols or other written authorization.The advanced practice clinician will assess and manage patient health problems including actual and potential conditions within the hospital, clinic or outpatient setting. The advanced practice nurse will effectively identify, evaluate, and address disease prevention/health promotion issues of the population in practice while administering quality patient care.The advanced practice clinician is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic, and long-term healthcare issues.Plan, implement, and evaluate health care treatmentsObtain history and physical examinations on patients of all appropriate age groups per scope of practice.Assess and interpret laboratory and radiological findings.Utilize critical thinking skills to individualize patient care in order to manager illnesses, promote well-being, and foster rehabilitative/disease preventive lifestyle choicesPrescribe medications and The CONSERVE Research Group provides a forum for interdisciplinary research and education; bringing together university researchers, students and staff to promote collaboration; and a broad interdisciplinary focus on water issues that face our world today. CONSERVE-affiliated researchers specialize in ecosystem restoration, remote sensing, hydrological modeling, watershed management and human health. Rivercane is considered a cultural keystone species, meaning its existence significantly contributes to the cultural identity of a people (e.g., Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Jena Band of Choctaw, Poarch Creek, Eastern Band of Cherokee). CONSERVE works directly with Tribal communities to protect and enhance ecosystem restoration efforts and promote the use of native rivercane for riparian restoration at a landscape level. CONSERVE is developing giant rivercane (Arundinaria gigantea) seed stock with accompanying genetic information to assist Tribes and other stakeholders implement rivercane restoration projects. By implementing a much-needed program to develop a source of rivercane, this project will increase Tribal capacity to manage and access a resource that is a part of many southeastern indigenous communities’ culture, heritage, and lifeways. Increasing sources of rivercane also helps agencies and other conservation partners access an ecologically significant resource for riparian restoration efforts and contribute to a wider, regional strategy to restore a culturally and ecologically important species spanning the entire Southeastern United States. We have partnered directly with tribal governments to host staff at tribal offices to support this project. Our project will be implemented in at least 12 states in the SE region (NC, SC, MS, LA, OK, AR, KY, VA, TN, AL, WV, GA) and support at least five tribal governments. The greenhouses are centrally located in Tuscaloosa, AL with demonstration field sites across the entire southeastern region including tribal lands. Three of the full time field technicians will be stationed within the tribal offices of the Jena Band of Choctaw in LA, the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee in OK, and the Poarch Creek in AL. This position assists with fieldwork for biological sampling of rivercane population genetics. Uses Geographic Information Science (GIS) to assist with creating maps of rivercane population inventory and characteristics. Takes detailed field notes and ecological data for the inventoried areas under the direction of the project leader. Rivercane stand germoplasm development will also be part of the duties to support partner germoplasm and herbarium development. This position supports field activities and manage data collection with our grant partners at study locations in Jena, Louisiana. Continuation will depend on availability of funding.<div><hr/></div>Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of research support experience; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of research support experience; OR bachelor's degree or higher and some research support experience.<div><hr/></div>Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Three (3) years of experience conducting environmental, science-based field research and coordinating Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data collection, or other relevant transferable work experience in field research. Experience working on complex field projects, with broad groups, and across disciplines. Geographic Information Systems skills with experience using ESRI Arc GIS. Interest in applied science and water-related scholarship that impacts communities.
