When you work for Texas Materials, you are helping to support and build the infrastructure of Texas. Position OverviewUnder the direction of the Senior Health and Safety Manager, the Safety Representative provides technical and compliance expertise to the field employees in terms of good safety habits and provide direction and skills for a safe work environment.  This position works closely with field supervision and personnel to achieve goals and support the safety of each of the company’s business units.  Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)<ul><li>Assists with audits of plant facilities regulated under OSHA, General Industry and Construction Standards and MSHA Part 56 Safety and Health Standards for Surface Metal and Nonmetal Mines.</li><li>Investigate all incidents for root-cause development to ensure unsafe conditions/behavior is not repeated.</li><li>Participate on safety committee meetings and provide insight and resources on matters relating to committee safety concerns and corrective solutions.</li><li>Reinforce policies and procedures that support the company’s goals, the operations needs and achievement of safety results.  Support the company’s safety standards, teach Smith System defensive driving course to employees authorized to drive company vehicles.</li><li>Conduct employee training certifications, classroom training, and practical hands-on training.</li><li>Conduct job site safety inspections including specified areas for fire-prevention equipment and other safety and first-aid supplies.</li><li>Assist in conducting weekly toolbox talks and monthly safety training.</li><li>Assist with plant and roadway incident investigations and document all accidents, safety violations, injuries, and unsafe conditions/activities to find root cause and make recommendations for improvement. as well as supervise departmental monthly safety and health training.  Initiate activities that stimulate and maintain employee interest in safety and health.</li><li style="background-repeat:no-repeat;outline:none;list-style:inherit;margin-left:25px">Conduct weekly plant safety inspection.  Make daily plant inspections to uncover unsafe work practices and conditions before they cause accidents.  Assist in management of exposure control program, hazard communication program, respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.</li><li style="background-repeat:no-repeat;outline:none;list-style:inherit;margin-left:25px">Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws and company policies on industrial safety and health.</li><li machine guarding.  Work with the Occupational Health Department to help develop our ergonomics program.</li><li
