This role oversees the implementation and enforcement of company safety policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across all project sites. The Safety Director will work closely with project leadership, field teams, subcontractors, and clients to promote a proactive safety culture and maintain the highest safety standards.The Safety Director will oversee the overall safety performance of the project, including site orientations, review of pre-task planning activities (including pick plans), participation in daily shift huddles and contractor meetings, conducting safety audits, and monitoring jobsite safety compliance across all shifts. <h4>Position Logistics</h4><ul><li>Work Environment: On-Site</li><li>Location & Project Information: This position will be a large data center project located near Mandan, ND. </li><li>Work Schedule: 50 hours  / week or based on project schedule needs. Opportunities to travel to additional projects sites may be available. </li><li>Work Type: Full Time, Exempt</li><li>Location & Travel Details: This is a traveling position (up to 100%), where you will be located onsite at a project location for the duration of the project. Reasonable support for meals and lodging will be provided for eligible team members while traveling. This position will be eligible for routine travel home. Preference may be given to candidates who are located near Mandan or Fargo, ND</li></ul><h4>Position Responsibilities:</h4><ul><li>Lead and manage all jobsite safety operations and initiatives across assigned projects.</li><li>Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies, Emergency Action Plans, procedures, and standards.</li><li>Oversee site-specific safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company requirements.</li><li>Conduct and oversee new hire and subcontractor site orientations.</li><li>Review pre-task plans, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and critical lift/pick plans for accuracy and completeness.</li><li>Participate in daily shift huddles, toolbox talks, coordination meetings, and contractor safety meetings.</li><li>Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and field observations to identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.</li><li>Monitor safety performance across all shifts and ensure consistent enforcement of safety expectations.</li><li>Investigate incidents, near misses, and safety concerns; develop corrective action plans and track resolution.</li><li>Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to project teams and subcontractors regarding safe work practices.</li><li>Manage and mentor Safety Supervisors and additional safety personnel as needed.</li><li>Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and compliance records.</li><li>Collaborate with project leadership to promote a culture of accountability and continuous safety improvement.</li><li>Assist with client safety requirements, audits, and reporting expectations.</li></ul><h4>We're Seeking Individuals Who Have:</h4><div><div><ul><li>Have a Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or a related field.</li><li>Bring 7–10 years of construction safety experience, ideally within commercial, industrial, or mission critical/data center environments.</li><li>Have successfully led safety programs on large-scale construction projects.</li><li>Possess strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management practices.</li><li>Hold an OSHA 30 certification; CHST, CSP, or other professional safety certifications are preferred.</li><li>Demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Can effectively influence and engage employees, subcontractors, and leadership teams at all levels of an organization.</li><li>Are proactive, solutions-oriented leaders with a strong commitment to jobsite safety and continuous improvement.</li></ul></div></div><h4>Total Rewards Approach </h4>Our salary ranges are established based on a combination of market data, internal equity, and the unique characteristics of our organization such as our size, revenue, and industry. They will use their experience in warehouse operations to manage personnel and drive efficient warehouse operations through the associates they lead, ensuring the safe, accurate and timely receiving and storage of inbound product or selection and loading of outbound product.This application is only available to active-duty service members eligible to participate in a DoD SkillBridge Internship. The service member must be within the last 12 months of their active-duty contract. This is an unpaid, non-benefit eligible internship position in partnership with the DoD SkillBridge program.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead with a safety mindset that ensures that every US Foods associate remains injury free, always. Champion safety procedures, processes and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.
• Oversee and develop warehouse associates through one-on-one coaching, training on policy and procedures, assisting in problem resolution when required, and leading by example. Discuss associate performance with Sr. Warehouse Managers and create plans to address gaps.
• Create a cohesive organization by keeping lines of communication open and directing workforce to ensure efficient workflow.
• Direct and supervise the work and productivity of associates within the warehouse department. Drive associate engagement and retention, and create a culture that embodies US Foods values.
• Participate in building high-performing teams by interviewing and hiring warehouse personnel, in conjunction with Sr. Warehouse Managers. Review performance, coach on productivity and safety targets, and deliver disciplinary action.
• Lead and direct associates to achieve accurate orders that are then staged and loaded on the trucks. Oversee the preparation of the warehouse for shipping or receiving on the next shift.
• Monitor operational information, such as "mis-picks" and productivity reports, to ensure the entire shift meets rates and follows preferred methods. Take action through coaching and counseling to correct behaviors.
• On day shift, designate dock locations for inbound carriers. Ensure product is stocked in appropriate location in accordance with food safety and FIFO processes & procedures. Monitor replenishment activity to ensure stock is available for the shipping shift and to minimize the potential for "shorts". Oversee will call.
• Maintain physical condition and safety of warehouse and equipment, including preparing work orders for repairs and requisitions for equipment.
• Work with operations management team to identify sources of inventory shrink and assist in development of an action plan. Analyze the current operations and make recommendations to improve on expense and cost control.
• Regularly inspect facility for safety hazards and either resolve them or report them to the safety manager as appropriate. Maintain the physical condition of the warehouse and its equipment.
• Ensure Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) and FSQA requirements are followed.
• Effectively schedule working shifts by leveraging appropriate planning tools (i.e., Microsoft Excel)
• Other duties assigned by manager.SUPERVISION:• Direct: Union and/or non-union warehouse on-floor associates (Loaders, Selectors, Receivers, Forklift drivers, etc.)RELATIONSHIPS:• Internal: Warehouse leaders and coworkers; Internal customers across departments (e.g., Sales)
• External: N/AWORK ENVIRONMENT:• The work takes place in normal warehouse environments as well as in cooler and freezer areas where temperatures may be as low as -5 degrees.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSRelated Experience/Requirements:• Minimum of three years of experience in warehouse distribution required.
• Minimum of one year of experience overseeing a workforce required.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:• Broad knowledge of warehouse operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Familiarity with inventory control, OSHA, HACCP and other regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office).TRAVEL:• 10% travel required, typically for mandatory meetings and/or training.EDUCATION/TRAINING:• High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.PREferred QUALIFICATIONSLicenses/Certifications:• HACCP certification a plus.
