POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Environmental ScienceREPORTS TO: Math & Science Division Chair, Dr. Marygrace KaiserPOSITION SUMMARY: The Division of Science and Mathematics at Eureka College invites applications for a full-time position in Environmental Science at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting August 2026. The successful candidate will teach 24 credits annually, along with assisting in advising environmental science and biology majors and occasionally mentoring senior thesis projects as part of the colleges Honors Program. The environmental science faculty may be required to participate in the colleges interdisciplinary programs including first year seminar or 10 Essentials (general education) science courses at Eureka College. This position has the potential to be offered as a 1-year Visiting Assistant Professor position (with the potential for becoming tenure-track) if degree qualifications and/or preferred experience are not met on day one.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Teach 12 credit hours each semester (24 credits per academic year) of undergraduate coursework in mathematics.Courses in 2026-27 academic year will likely include:<ul><li>Principles of Biology I and II</li><li>Introductory Environmental Science</li><li>Approaches to Research</li><li>Environmental Biology</li></ul>Future courses could include and/or introduce:<ul><li>GIS (Intro and Advanced)</li><li>Ecology</li><li>Conservation Biology</li><li>Computational Biology</li><li>Botany or Plant Science</li><li>Soil Science</li></ul>ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:<ul><li>Serve on college committees.</li><li>Participate in faculty governance (monthly meetings).</li><li>Supervise undergraduate honors theses & research (as needed).</li><li>Help in the recruiting process of future/prospective students.</li><li>Propose innovations to the Environmental Science and/or Biology program at Eureka College to meet the demands of the current job market and student interests.</li></ul>SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:
