Responsibilities:Forms and shapes materialOperates lathes, drill presses, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplicating and profile machinesWorks from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making complex repairs to metal parts as well as for experimental apparatus or prototype equipmentWork is diversified and machining is performed to ordinary tolerancesRequires extensive knowledge of various metals and of measurements used in machining processesDetermines dimensions and tolerances of piece to be machined, sequence of operations and machines required by studying specifications, such as blueprints, sketches, damaged parts or description of partsComputes cutting speeds, feed rates and dimensionsInspects machined work pieces to verify conformancePrepares and pre-sets all tools needed for machining operationsMay provide technical leadership and assist in training less experienced machinistsDaily maintenance check of machineOther work may be assigned at Management’s discretionEducation/Experience/Skills/Knowledge:High School or EquivalentFive+ years of related work experienceCrane/Forklift Certification – In-house training provided to obtain certificationsValid Driver’s licenseProper use of Safety Equipment – Safety boots, hard hat, fall protection, safety glasses, ear plugsProper use of tools: Inside and Outside Micrometers, Depth Micrometer, Calipers, Bore Gages, Other General Hand ToolsPrimetals Technologies offers a full range of benefits starting with first day of employment.
