Education & Training Graduate of an accredited school of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Meets ARDMS eligibility guidelines Licensure & Certifications Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through ARDMS Active BLS/Healthcare Provider certification Active RDMS Physics registry Minimum of two (2) ARDMS specialty registries relevant to the department Experience Minimum of one (1) year of professional sonography experience Demonstrated knowledge and hands‑on experience with routine and complex ultrasound procedures, which may include: Invasive procedures (biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, breast localization) Doppler imaging 3D/4D ultrasound Pediatric sonography Consistent competency in performing ultrasound examinations relevant to the department Essential Functions Collaborates closely with radiologists to perform diagnostic sonographic examinations Demonstrates sound professional judgment and maintains a patient‑centered approach Assesses patient condition and age‑specific needs before and during procedures Ensures compliance with all state and federal regulations related to diagnostic imaging Verifies patient identification, obtains clinical history, and ensures accurate documentation Positions patients and equipment while adjusting technical factors to produce high‑quality diagnostic images Reviews images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and complete anatomic visualization Upholds Orlando Health's mission, values, and commitment to excellence.
