The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer performs patient assessments, acquires and analyzes data obtained using ultrasound and related diagnostic technologies, provides a summary of findings to the physician to aid in patient diagnosis and management, and uses independent judgment and systematic problem-solving methods to produce high-quality diagnostic information and optimize patient care. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret each patients requirements relative to age-specific needs and to the care of the patient.
